Same here. I was a fan, that`s all. Mostly a fan of his `Born in the USA`album & that was basically it. But once i saw him live....wow!! Amazing!! He played non-stop for nearly 3 hours!! I saw him during the `Rising`tour. I have the dvd of his Barcelona concert near that time & its nearly identical to his show in Mtl that i saw. A few months later, in September, i saw him at the Skydome in Toronto (now called Rogers Center). I didn`t like his show that much since the building is much bigger than a hockey arena (such as the Bell Center & ACC). Everyone on the field level was standing up during the whole time & my back was killing me. Sat next to a well-known US movie actor (we spent the evening fetching beers for one another) who was in town for the film fest and is thoughts were the same as me. In Mtl, i had sat in the first row of seats to the right of the stage.
Anyways, along with U2, Springsteen is the best live act i`ve ever seen & i`d go and see him again and again...as long as he`s not playing at a baseball or football stadium, that is.
I saw him at the Corel Center, though it was trimmed down to only seat about 5000 people. This was a solo show. I assume the Civic Center is a smaller venue than the Scotiabank Place?Doc Holliday said:

To answer your question why the Boss isn't going to Montreal: Money! (i.e.: not enough)

It is unfortunate, but the bottom feeding acts and dishonest business practices of a few of these types has given Montreal a bad reputation when it comes to big names coming to the city.
Being in the tourism industry myself I see and hear of all kinds of scams going around Montreal when it comes to tourists and other money coming to the city. Doubt that any big professional associations will be looking at Montreal as a place to hold conferences next summer after a number of incidences where participants and associations faced unexpected costs not seen in contracts etc. throughout this past spring/summer.
Just like the escort scene once someone earns a reputation of dishonest practices then its all over.

I agree with your statement. But this is often the case of cities or countries that are having a hard time economically. Montreal's economy doesn't come close to Ottawa's & Toronto's.

Yeah, the Civic Center is half the size of Scotiabank Place. I'm surprised he won't play at the bigger arena, but maybe this is because that building was already occupied on that particular night. I last went there when Neil Diamond was in town & he packed the place. I"m certain that The Boss could do the same & more.

Of those dates listed, you have two "local" in Canada.
Hartford is more 'New England' and he'll expect to draw some Bostonians down that way (as well as the Nothern suburbs of NYC).
Philly will have alot of his hardcore, die-hard South Jersey & Jersey coast fans.
MSG in NYC can actually be a boring place for shows because of too many music industry comp tickets going out.
East Rutherford (that's in New Jersey for those of you who aren't locals) is more commonly known as 'Giants Stadium'. That's generally considered to be Springsteen's "home" arena when he tours so it's the place to be.
Not too many can sell out a football arena for ten shows like he can.
And if you've never seen him with his original "E Street Band", you don't know what you're missing. They are the world's ultimate rock party band. How many bands can get an entire football stadium up on their feet dancing?
If they played at your wedding, you'd be a legend.
Here's a tip, though. He's popular enough that the promoter will keep adding shows. And the shows will keep selling out.
But after 7 or 8 shows even the people who have seen 2 or 3 shows don't want no more. The last few shows are usually way "over-sold" and if you go to show #8, 9, or 10 you will actually find people in the parking lots GIVING tickets away for FREE. No joke. The scalpers get too greedy!
How do I know? I had tickets for shows #3 and #9 last time and I couldn't ditch the tickets that my friends stiffed me with when they bailed on show #9 just a few days before the show.
Scalpers were out there with dozens and tons of people in my same situation who were just trying to give 'em away.
So, if he adds a ton of more dates, and they're all at 'The Meadowlands' (or 'Swamplands' as people from NYC will call it), there's a real good chance you can actually see the show for little to nothing if you want to go out on a limb.
If not ... well there's always a great "tailgate" going on for a couple of hours before the show. Just make sure you're a real Springsteen fan because I can guarantee that that's all you'll hear 'til the time you leave.

This is NOT Giant's Stadium. This is the Continental Airlines Arena, formerly known as the Brendan Byrne Arena. It is the home of the New Jersey Devils and New Jersey Nets. With 2 shows, there will be about 35,000 tickets available and they will be like gold. It is possible that they could add 3 more dates, before Ottawa. They will still be like gold.incognito_NYC said:

To the best of my knowledge, politics are the main reason that so many big names don't come here anymore. Local labour must be used for a lot of the "roadie" work, transport must be paid off, and the promoters even have to pay ,to the kilowatt, for the electricity used. Too many union hands out, along with the taxman's. That's why the film industry no longer looks to Montreal either. I can't say I blame them for not coming. Montreal has gotten pretty lame over the years. Concert wise, the new audience just gets up and leaves, the minute the lights come back on. Gone are the days of pounding on the boards at the Forum until the band came back on stage. Oh well.

Mtwallet, you have all this info from where?? I tend to disagree... Film industry vanished because of a labour conflict who's now resolved. They're coming back. Justin Timberlake came twice to Montréal in the last year and, on his first visit, went partying downtown. Lots of other big names also did a visit. In fact, most artist, no matter if movie stars or singers, all have in common they love Montreal's nightlife! What about Catherine Zeta-Jones and hubby Michael Douglas, who now have a secondary residence in Tremblant?
Actualy a few years ago there were many of the problems that mtlwallet has mentioned. But it seems that the year of the hockey strike caused many problems to be worked out. Since then, we have had just about every major concert making a stop in Mtl, and many artists even add a second show such as U2 and the Police. Why the Boss isn't coming here I really couldn't say. No show he has done here has ever had problems with ticket sales so it has to be something else. You can never tell if a show will be added though. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen.

I saw them in Toronto a couple of months earlier (saw them twice in one week!) and they were absolutely fantastic!! Hard for me to say which one was the best live concert: U2 or Springsteen & the E-Street Band.
Actually I could be wrong there. Could be right too, though!
I saw Springsteen the first three times he came to Montreal and they have to rank as the best pure rock and roll shows I have ever seen.
Not a big U2 fan though so for my money it's the Boss hands down.
