K.i.s.s.

After looking at some of the suggestions I figure that posting a review on MERB migth eventually require a proctology exam (given by a senior member of the board of course), and although some of us may in fact like the idea:) I still want to argue for the wonderfull concept of K.I.S.S.

If we must create a barrier againts does invading Shill forces, please make it so that newbies that want to contribute and have no agenda other than contributing can in fact do that.

Perhaps this should be put to a vote of all members? It seems to me there are definitely pros and cons with the Wilko Initiative, well advanced by both sides. Perhaps after the Mods have their pow-wow, they will consider a vote on several different options including adopting the Wilko Initiative, something between 2-20 posts or some modified Wilko Initiative, or leaving things the way they are.

One other thought....

I am a "newbie" here, because I live in Ontario and hang out on Terb, where I review and post regularly. I have been using Merb over the past couple of weeks to "research" options for my trip to Montreal, beginning tomorrow.

I expect to see four SPs while in your city, and I will post my reviews accordingly. Under these new rules, I would not be able to start a new thread, but only add my 2 cents worth to someone else's thread...

My point is, that as much as this proposed policy would reduce shills, it will also limit posts from legitimate, visiting posters.

Since Fred owns all of these boards (Merb, Terb and Perb) maybe there could be some way to get a letter of introduction from the Mods on the other Boards. ;)

These Boards are great for local hobbyests, but they are also useful for visitors. I will be using Perb shortly for a trip to Vancouver when I get back from Montreal....

Besides, what's more fun than trashing a shill!

Maybe there is some way to give credit for posts on TERB, PERB or even the unmentionable M/E/R/C, for established posters on those boards? The Stoos of the world should be grandfathered in if they have 20 posts or more and are in good standing on the other Boards, with no punishments for shilling on those Boards............

a good way to identify how useful a given poster's information is ... is to have their posting profile displayed in detail .... at this time only the total number of post is displayed under the user's handle ... this is of no real value no matter how large the number is .... a better idea is to list also the user's board breakdown of those posts ... meaning how many posts were in the lounge or in escort 411 or in escort reviews or strip clubs or street action etc ... the breakdown would include the number of posts in each section and the percentage of total posts ... then at a glance you can see the quality contribution factor for that user ... for example a user has 100 posts .... 99 posts in lounge (99%) ... 1 post in escort 411 (1%) ... such a profile immediately tells you this user does not contribute to the board's main purpose ... reviews reviews reviews

also there needs to be more strict rules about posts in the escort review section .... only posts containing actual reviews may be in the escort review section .... many times a thread is started in the escort review section .... first post a review and then dozens of posts come on after that asking for info but are not reviews ... all these posts should be deleted or moved to the 411 section ... not the thread as long as it started properly with a review ... this way the tread would only contain reviews and not endless requests for additional information ie 411 stuff ... it is not uncommon to find a thread with dozens of posts but only one or two posts are actually a review ....also by deleting these 411 posts that do not have reviews this would lower the escort review post count for these users .... thus giving you a clear view of the user's quality contribution factor

all other sections on the board do not apply ... the stricter posting rules are only for escort review section
