I am looking for a place that has the feed from the U.S. with all the new commercials. Expressvu isn't an option and I was told that Videotron has the U.S. feed if the game is watched on the Seatle channels. I'm not sure if this is correct but am looking for some infor from my fellow MERBites with this one. I know Champ's has the U.S feed but for me it is downtown and I live up north of Laval.....help, please

Forget about Videotron, Xpressvu and Starchoice, they are bound by CRTC rules where they can only show the canadian stations. (Canadian democracy for you.)

The only way to get the US feed is with a US SAT provider such as Dishnetwork or Directv. You can always go to Champs as they have US sat feeds. Cage aux Sports will most likely have the Canadian feed.

I used to go the the Scratch near Les Déesses in Laval for the wwe ppv and they had either Directv or Dish Networks so if they use those for the superbowl too you should have the us ads since it's an american satellite provider.

I didn't know that Starchoice could bypass the CRTC and show us signal. Last year on bev, they had the "Global cahnnel" canadian feed even on the channels from Seatle....

Say what? I have XVue and get US channels no problems... Are you in the US? This would explain you know nothing about Canadian democraty... Or Canadian CRTC rules.

No, Canadian provider aren't bypassing Canadian laws/CRTC rules. They're allowed to transmit US content.

Peoples/bars in Canada using a US feed are not legal and, if somebody notice and complain, the US provider will terminate service.

Well, when I watch us shows and they are on global too, I got the global signal (It's called simsubs) and for example, I get the simpsons but with stupid canadian tires ads and so on. Last year, I remember well because it was my first years in hd and my first year since 2001 without Directv so I missed the us commercial.

I read on specialized forums that on starchoice for certain channels they dont do the simsubs so that is why they get us ads during superbowl.

I get Fox, and bunch of others, with publicity from whoever in the US. This is an option on most providers. All you have to do is select it. But you can't get only the US nets, you must have some Canadian feeds, that's all.
I'm not talking about HD channels. Very few exist and very few peoples are equipped to watch those.

I am not 100% sure but you may be able to get the US feeds by the HD channels(651-652-653-654) on your Videotron/Illico...These channels are straight from Buffalo..The channels from seattle are the time shifting channels,Not HD(421-422-423-424).I called Videotron and they said that we will be able to get the US commercials but I am skeptical about this.

I read too on another forum that on Videotron on CBS they would show US commercial but I too find that hard to beleive. Hope it's true for all Videotron user. Maybe i'll call bev to check....

No i'm not in the US, I live in Canada...
You can get US feed channels in Canada on Xpressvu, Star or videotron, but once a canadian network in the AREA carries the programming, the CRTC requires that local feed to take over.
This year CBS is carrying the Super Bowl in the US, and Global has the exclusive NFL rights in CANADA, so if there is a Global station in your area, you will be watching the global commercials.

Now i'm not sure about HD programming, this is just from my experience in the montreal market

Well I called BellExpressvu and boy, it's hard to get someone CANADIAN working there!!!! I don't speak Indian so I could not understand a damn thing the clerks said! He told me "should be american commercial because game played America...." EEEEE...I don't think he understood my question.

The post by Dingo resume well how Global gets is feed over the US one in MTL area. I have Bell HD and Disnetwork regular so i'll watch live in HD and tape the game on Dishnetworks to check the ads the day after.....

Good game to all!!!! ps: Should be a superbowl sunday special from the sp in MTL.... like 100$ all afternoon....;)

Canadian stations hijack US tv signal in order to insert their own 'Canadian' ads

Global TV has been under criticism lately for not providing a quality HD signal due to their hijacking of US HD feeds. They hijack the signal in order to insert their own commercials and then re-send that signal (with their own Canadian commercials) to Canadian tv watchers. I was watching the NFL playoffs recently and everything was near-perfect until i began seeing the 'Global' logo at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen later in the game (i was watching the games on both the Fox and NBC HD channels). As soon as i began to see the 'Global' logo at the bottom of the screen instead of its original station (Fox or NBC), it seemed that the signal/picture would deteriorate at times. Only when i saw this article at the bottom did i realize my suspicions were correct:
