Has anyone been to the one on Rene Levesque? I've seen them advertised forever on TSN's "Off the Record" and didn't think Montreal had any but see now that there is one. Any thoughts on it?

I'll try this weekend.....

I didn't know Montreal had one either. I have never tried the Keg but have always wanted to. I will be in town this weekend and will give it a try, maybe Sat night before my date with the lovely Helen and let you know K.
Anyone know how far from HDLM it is? I know Rene Leveque is only a couple of blocks from de le Montagne, but how many blocks once on Rene Levesque?

Never been to the one on Rene Levesque but if it's anything like the one in Old Montreal, then it should be good...although nothing spectacular.

The Keg

Following the closure of the Movenpick in January this year, which left a lot of free space in the Place Ville Marie commercial mall, there has been major relocations and new arrivals over the last months, including The Keg.

I've not been to this new location but I've been several times to the one on St-Paul Street in Old Montreal. I like ribsteaks and The Keg has good ones. Those from Moishes on St-Laurent are even better but I much prefer the atmosphere at The Keg. I've been to other The Keg locations across Canada and they all have the same feel, so I guess the new one in Place Ville Marie should follow along the same winning combination spirit.

I've been to the Keg in Old Montreal a number of times and never left unsatisfied or feeling I didn't get my money's worth. Not the place to go if you're looking to impress someone with how much money you can spend for a small serving in a big plate, or if you want to dine with pretentious people in a chic setting. But if you're looking for a good meal at a good price, it's hard to beat. If I had a choice though, I'd go to the one in Old Mtl. Everything seems to taste better in a centuries old building!:D

The Keg is the mid-priced, shorter menu, smaller brother to the Hy's Steakhouse chain. Convenient, good value and good meats. It's my "everyday" steakhouse.

I don't know of a comparable chain in the US but Hy's is comparable to a Mortons or a Smith & Wollensky...if that helps.

I've been to the one at Place Ville Marie. Went there on a Thursday evening but it was noisy as hell, happy hour and probably all the office workers that work at PVM were in there drinking it up.

I think the Old Montreal location is much quieter and you don't have to scream to be heard.
