One of the principal elements of beauty is health; with modern day medicine, dentistry and knowledge of nutrition and the benefits of exercise; with the lack of a hard life as was known historically in many parts of the world (life expectancy 35 yrs); with the makeup available and cosmetic surgery possible; with the delightful unashamedly unrepressed expression of femininity in all its delights; with all this and more, the women today would put their ancestors to shame with very few exceptions. I have seen even girls who do not possess the coveted regular features of professional models and movie stars but who are glowing with health and inner beauty possess a very fetching demeanour. And they are holding onto their beauty much longer. (We have companions working long into their 50`s). We are so used to seeing this degree of beauty that it may begin to take on the aspect of the commonplace. Sorry, but those of the past from the the Mona Lisa to the tribeswoman, coarse and rough with all the teeth rotting out of their heads leave me cold. By the way, a lot of this applies to the guys also. Not being condescending here. Just calling a spade a spade. Just glad to be alive in this time.
