I am very happy with the way this game turned out for many reasons. The win is first of course, but it's far more than that. This "invincibility" crap that the media has been promoting to hype their braodcasts for profit has had me very worried that the Patriots might let things go to their head. No matter how much Belichick tries to drive home the need to tak every game and every play seriously there is always the threat of "ego" leading to apathy. How can you blame palyers for feeling comfortable when they blow out teams by 56-10. It may be too much to ask playrs to keep it real when this situation becomes commonplace. Now the Eagles have shown the Patriots their "mortality"...with emphasis. The Patriots now know it wasn't just a matter of coming close against Indianapolis. Even the mediocre Eagles gave them the game of their lives and the Patriots will have to live with the fact they ARE NOT INVINCIBLE! Thinking like that once beat the Colts in Super Bowl III...and now the Patriots are on notice.

As for the game itself, Feeley was great. It wasn't just a matter of blown coverage. The man threw many terrific passes. He very nearly did the same thing he did last year against the Patriots when he was with the Dolphins. And, I thank him for showing the Patriots their weaknesses up the middle of the field. Nothing better could have happened to the Patriots, and they can learn from this very timely lesson. Unlike when they played the Colts, the Patriots did not play all that badly. One badly blown pass interference call, and a long drive where the Patriots failed to convert made the game closer. But the game was a great lesson in REALLY taking it one game and one play at a time. Thank Eagles for the much needed lesson. It was worth it.

Hello Doc,

Philadelphia made a game of it by playing the Patriots game and passing with almost no running plays. It wasn't the passing call that was "stupid" it was the choice of where to throw it. Feeley had been great all game long. Maybe he started to feel a bit invincible and lost his head at the critical moment. In the end it's the quarterback's call. Looking at the coverage, Feeley should have nullified whatever instructions he got from elsewhere and made a smarter pass or thrown it away. This play mistake was on Feeley.
