Look behind you.
I have had tinnitus for awhile but the noise level is going up, supposedly there is no cure but different people say there are different remedy to reduce the noise level with noise canceling earbuds to medication. Anyone had any success with anything? I have a hering appointment is 2 hrs but with sketchy online info would like some first hand news.
Thanks.

Loud music or intense fucking.
I've been plagued for 8 months now....Sometimes it's hard to watch TV with the noise. Although today, it's like I'm up north fishing down a little river, with the peep frogs going nuts...I can live with that
No cure. You have to live with it.

Came back from the hearing center, no cure but remedys. There are hearing aids that will block out the frequency you hear, cost is about $8K. There are also smart phone apps that assist in blocking out the noise. Going for a test next week to find the frequency I hear.

I got over the voices thing, if there was a choice of two evils I would pick the one I never tried before. The ringing is irritating though.

Sometimes it is caused by circulatory problems.
A lot of desk work, looking at a screen, can compress blood vessels in your neck.
I get it from sitting at the computer too long. It goes away if I change position.
There is a book about this theory, I met the writer at Chapters but cannot remember the name.

Do NOT fuck around with home remedies for ear problems.
I had vertigo once and it was so bad I thought about killing myself.
Go to a real audiologist or ear/nose/throat specialist.

I had very bad case of it. It was during the period of my separation. Too much drinking and lack of sleep over a few months was the problem. Life back to normal, physical activities and meeting SP solve the issue (basically being happy again!).

At one point I just realized there were no more sound in my ears.

Cheers,

I work mostly outdoors, maybe 20% desk time, still nibble as a gazelle, albeit an older one, hindquarter chewed by a lion, a week ago.
The ringing is getting worse, once back to BC I will look into seeing a specialist.

ORL here, is it a problem in both ears? Did you get a diagnostic after an MRI or was it from an audiologist?

It depends on whether your hearing loss is caused by normal aging, or by exposure to overpressure above a certain level. Overpressure hearing loss cannot be corrected by hearing aids, vitamins, or fresh chicken blood, as it permanently kills the cells responsible for activating the nerves in your inner ear. Normal aging hearing loss can be compensated for (within certain ranges) by the new hearing aids that can be custom tuned to amplify the frequencies that you're having trouble hearing.

I had it last year for several weeks. I gave up coffee and alcohol. I work out regularly for a number of years, but I started working out more and I also lost some extra weight. I don't have it anymore.

Had Tinnitus all my life in my right ear.
Always suspected that it came from years on the firing range without ear plugs.

Seen several doctors/specialist, all very serious and talking about the "latest developments," and this or that surgery that "might work."
Never got the feeling any of them, even the ENT specialists, had a clue what they were talking about.

For many years now I always put my SOs, to my right when we go for walks.
She blabs away, never noticing that I can't hear a word of what she is saying.
We are both happy.

Maurice,

If you hearing loss is due to concussive over pressure (such as being on a firing range without sufficient hearing protection), there's nothing to be done. I've done the research and spoken to the docs, and they all say to enjoy what I can while I can. (I love listening to a broad variety of music.)

Bon chance!
