Trip to Montreal
First time posting. Thansk so much for all of you participants for the amazing amount if information and guidance. Frankly it makes my head spin.. but maybe that's the age. I am driving through Montreal Sunday evening for a business appointment Monday morning. I will probably be crossing the Vermont border ( Burlington) in the early evening and am looking to stay north of the city in the St Jerome /Mt Tremblant area for the evening hotel (not staying in the city)
My exploits in the States generally tend to be sessions around the Tantra theme. ( Amazing). 55 years old, with lots of imagination. would like an interesting experience but would prefer not to get arrested.
Knowing I only have one evening and night and time gets precious when you get older. (There are only so many dinners.. don't waste them at McDonald's and only so many nights... don't waste them alone) what would any of you recommend for a special Montreal experience? I don't usually go to strip clubs but then again the scene described on the Board seem different than the run of the mill establishment in the US. Same with Massage. Again thanks for all the good reviews and tips. It's one of the best boards I have seen. I promise to make a report but will keep my enthusiasm measured so as not to be perceived as a shill. Thanks again

For a cheap authentic slice of Montreal, visit Fairmont Bagel Bakery, on, where else, 74 Fairmont St. just west of St. Laurent. Freshly baked bagel, day or night, open 24 hours/day. Try the crispy matzoh board (highly addictive). Fairmont Bagel is a few blocks from Schwartz's smoked meat deli, on St. Laurent blvd., surely the most famous restaurant in Montreal.
Actually just walking up St. Laurent blvd is a trip in itself.
Here's my "walking tour": At the extreme south end it starts at de la Commune in Old Montreal, heading north to China Town (try the take out roast peking duck for $12, cut, at the Chinese butcher corner St. Laurent /de la Gauchetiere) , continue to the red light district around St. Catherine St. , head up north past Sherbrooke for the major $$ club/restos in Montreal (Buona Notte,etc), keep on going as you hit cool clothing stores and funky bars around Pine, then designer/small furniture shops, further north Jewish delis, Portugese restos, euro syle groceries. You can even buy your tombstone on St. Laurent! Much further north past St. Zotique is Little Italy, definately worth a visit to soak up the cafe atmosphere, best espresso, small great inexpensive Italian restos. The Tour ends at Jean Talon, where you can take the Metro back downtown. The full walk would take a few hours, but just hop a bus north if you get pooped out. It is easy, just find St. Laurent and head north. Have fun!
