Well put Iggy...I could not agree more. Not the time, nor the place.
Our thoughts and prayers should go out to the victims and their families.

I respect both your opinions. However, the way this thread was started by posting an article about the shootings was not the way to go if the thread starter only wanted 'thoughts & prayers' sent out to the victimes & their families. Same thing with the thread being a 'memorial'. It could have been done differently if this was the initial purpose, including using a different title for the thread.

What the thread starter did by starting his thread this way was to encourage people to react & post their personal opinions about the tragedy. It's also a hot topic which is sure to bring out comments & opinions not everyone wants to hear. But hey, wake up & smell the coffee: this thread is about murders committed & shootings. It's obvious that people will be passionate & sensitive about what occurred & want to get some stuff off their chests.

As for 'praying', it's not gonna happen with me. I'm an atheist & personally find that religion is a whole bunch of baloney & the reason for the majority of wars/hate on this planet. But that's another story.

I just read that Sarah Palin wrote today that she was against violence. What a joke! In at least half of the pictures she's in, she's carrying a riffle. Half of the stuff on her awfully boring show on TLC involved hunting & killing. She's against violence? What a fucking joke!

One final question: "What was the reason for people to show up at Sarah Palin & Tea Party rallies with their riffles?" I'll appreciate a rational answer since i've yet to hear one. By the way, that 'reload' remark that Palin kept saying over & over troubles me. This person once ran for the 2nd highest position in the Unites States government? Scary!

Hello Doc,

All true. I did explain in a second post that discussion was expected. How could I block reaction to this tragedy, and if I had made it a purely memorial thread I have the feeling someone...possibly you ;) (winky)..would have made a place for more reactions. But, I think the proper approach to avoid exploiting this tragedy would have been the focusing on the chances of violence in a hyper-political atmosphere with so many violent messages in a more generically unbiased way...NOT politicizing the killer OR pointing fingers at one side OR taking out previous feelings of antipathy on single targets. But who am I to tell anyone how to approach this. Just my opinion. I still love you...BRO! :)

Also, I wouldn't dare to think certain persons won't do as they like.

That's a great post Merlot. It's nice to read something that isn't motivated by a political agenda.

I'm not sure I'm succeeding all that well, but thanks.

Cheers,

Merlot

Doc,

I happen to agree with all of your points. I simply did not believe this was the place for even more political bantering. I see it is cool with Merlot...then so be it. I started another thread with a poll...seems most of the discussion I am hearing and even seeing here revolves around that topic. I'll let the people here decide.

Respectfully,

Jman

There are 535 members of the US Congress, 435 Representatives and 100 Senators. Sarah Palin put crosshairs on about 20 of them. And we're supposed to believe that Giffords' attack was a coincidence? Sorry. The evil bitch Palin, as I said yesterday, has blood on her hands. She should be hung on the streets of Tombstone at dawn and buried in a criminal's grave on Boot Hill.

bull shit Rumples. I am watching Fox News. Democratic strategist Bob Beckel said that he used the word "targeted" all the time. In fact Fox News showed a democratic strategy map with bull’s-eyes on it. Clinton had a "war room."

Also, I hunt and own guns and I haven't killed anyone yet. Where I come from most everyone hunts. Man has been hunting for 1000's of years. This does not make you violent.

Someone tell me about the guy that shot Reagan? What party was he? How about the Fort Hood Shooter? The left told us “Lets not rush to judgment on his motivation...he was just a cukoo!” So was the guy that was planting a bomb in Time's Square In Seatle Washington and the underwear bomber...The left told us that we shouldn't blame this on Islam. Why did the left rush to blame this on the Tea Party. This is a witch hunt.

There is more evidence that this guy was just insane and had no political affiliation with the Tea Party or the Republican Party. He wasn't motivated by the Health Care issue either (although, being insane this is rather ironic.)

Again Gifford was very conservative democrat and seemed to be a free thinker. Also the judge was a Bush appointee. Why kill the cute little girl?

First off, anyone on Fox Noise who claims to be a Democrat isn't. They hire fake democrats to act as foils for their wingnut hosts.

Second, there's a difference between calling someone a "target," which is a very broad term, and placing them between crosshairs, which is something found on a gun. Pailn also made the statement to Republicans "don't retreat, reload." You want to tellme what you might reload other than a gun.

Personally, I couldn't put it any better than Gabrielle Giffords did herself. "We're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is that the way she has it depicted has the cross hairs of a gun sight over our district," Giffords told MSNBC at the time. "When people do that, they've got to realize there's consequences to that action."

And now it's time for Palin to face those consequences. Personally, I think a noose on Main Street, Tombstone, AZ is just the ticket.

The Democratic party had Bull's-eyes" on Republicans that were "targeted." I do not believe they intended to shoot them but defreat them in the 2004 election.

This is plain silly. All Sarah Palin ever did was to gaurentee a democratic victory in the last presidential election. You should love and revere her for this.

Can you document this? Can you also tell me when Democrats told their constituents to "reload?"
