I was at the fight, I thought is was pretty good, only the Starnes chase was bad.

Our hotel room was next door to Dana's, we met him in the elevator and shook hands. He was very slick and calm, not a ranting maniac like on TV.

From what I hear I didn't miss much.
Well, Calzaghe hitting the canvas for the first time was a priceless moment, other than that he won his usual way, i.e. by overwhelming Hopkins with semi-landed slaps, none of which seemed to hurt.

On the other hand, Hopkins, 43 y/o, displayed his usual cleverness and counter-punching accuracy before he fell short as Home Joe was increasing his work rate and showboating for the U.S. crowd.

High significance fight, good matchup, average result.

At least boxing fans got their full 36 minutes of action while the MMA nuts barely got 9. :D

Believe Catherine Zeta-Jones was among the celebrities at the fight as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Jones, Jay-Z and Jim Belushi.

I can't believe the female judge giving Hopkins the fight....i mean, was she watching the same fight i was?
Outrageous scorecards are business as usual whenever Golden Boy is promoting fights. Judges Lombardi, McNair and Padillo scored the Santa Cruz/Casamayor respectively 114-113, 114-113, 113-114 in favour of Casamayor whereas practically every sport columnist, HBO people, the two nerds from Maxboxing and Harold Lederman all had it for Santa Cruz by a wide decision. Personally, I gave 11 rounds to Santa Cruz -vs- 1 to Casamayor.

Recently, two judges presented 115-113 and 117-111 scorecards in favour of Cristian Mijares whereas the third one had it 108-120 for Jose Navarro, a nonsense.

Back to Calzaghe/Hopkins, the punchstats were widely to the advantage of Calzaghe and Calzaghe also happened to be the boxer moving forward. On the other hand, Hopkins landed the cleanest, most solid, punches (landed the right-hand lead at will in the first four rounds) - some judges will always favour that aspect of a fight.
