Also within the article is an interview with "Brian Jackson" a Sixtyish IT professional (I didn't think Tony was 60! Lol) who's been in the game for 30 years. Wonder who this is on M*rc and banned from Merb?

These moron reporters really need to do their homework and due diligence. They should talk to

1) A guy who is recently divorced and he is totally dragged through the mud and have given up on women.
2) Someone who just gotten through a nasty break up.
3) A dude whom no civilian woman seem to understand and pay attention to yet meeting that SP she is able to and he is invigorated with living. Maybe she was just playing a role or it was actually genuine.
4) He was afraid of women and thought that the so called 8s, 9s and 10s always got their shit together. And after seeing a few SPs realized that is not the case.
5) He was someone who needed inspiration. That right SP can bring out that creative fire.

And the list goes on....

From my conversations with fellow hobbyists, SPs serve as better therapists than all those psycho babble quacks who pumps you with all those drugs and charges you a ton while not doing much to repair/solve whatever issues you have.

Speaking as a on-and-off journalist/writer, VICE like most outlets and sources sells information packaged with sensationalism. They already did dig more than many other outlets would by finding the board and actually interviewing/publishing someone who claims to be (and probably is) a board vet. It's people on the extreme ends with strong opinions who are generally going to get these quotes and interviews. A moderate, balanced account of the profession with multiple perspectives would put them under fire by some as being supportive of it, a big nono given modern social currents, and the article would be less attention grabbing to most readers.

Remember this when it comes to evaluating things like bias, balance, and 'objectivity' in reporting and news: those ideas first came about for BUSINESS reasons, when people realized they'd sell more papers if they didn't automatically alienate one view by showing their bias. When BUSINESS again dictates that your outlet be 'edgy' but not enough to swim against today's popular currents, this is the side of the story you can expect to get.

The video inside the article breaking down C-36 is pretty interesting and informative although it's 34 minutes long.
