What is your estimate of the availability of SP and massage pre 2020 vs. today? A recession expected, do you think there will be a surge in SP and MPs

In 2020, pre pandemic and pre Trump slowing the world economy there were at least 3-4 times as many massage places and SPs. Massage places were on every big street in Montreal. The fat mayor Coderre was standing on St. Hubert street on a news report telling of how he was in sight of 5 places from one intersection. There was once a time where there were 200 daily ads in the Journal de Montreal advertising massage and SP services, Then came the weekly newspapers like the Mirror an Voir, later was the free advertising on Kijiji, Craigs list and Announce 123. Did the several years of the pandemic break the habits of many hobbyist? Is money that tight now as compared to pre 2020?

With all that salons that disappeared that eliminates opportunities for ladies to make a few bucks. Many years ago I was told by a salon owner that around the time of spring break and summer months there were a lot of university students that worked temporarily in salons. Are there less SPs, less clients?

Probably a mix of things. 3-4 times as many parlors, not sure about that estimate. How many were actual garbage? I'd say its about the same ratio still.

Higher rents and overall inflation sure don't help. For example, I stopped going to strip clubs and massage parlors , partially due to covid, but really I just find it to be shit mileage. Why spend 200-300$ for a crappy dance from a girl without moves and completly zoned out on ketamine? Or pay 200-300 for weak massage just to get a uninspired hj or bj ?

As for girls, there are more options then there ever were before to make a few bucks. That alone changes the balance of "power". I also think that with the increase of "internet users" that has generated an increase in scammers for johns and fake bookings for girls. And for some immigration "concerns".... I know a girl that got fed up of posting ads because she kept getting spammed by indians, pimps, angry incels and other girls. So she raised her prices a little bit and just keeps a few regulars. Don't know if she makes more money but she doesn't scramble as much as she used to and is actually easier to book. Her best friend also used to be a SW and when covid hit she wen't back and completed her degree and got a normal day job. She supplements it with selling panties online, sugar daddies (including a few trips a year with regulars) and other similar gigs and she makes more than she did when she was a SP and in her words "doesn't have to deal with as many deadbeats and weirdos".

Personally, I'd say my "entertainment" budget has been cut in half compared to 10-15 years ago. Going out for a good dinner, good drinks and some company would cost me 500-600$ now... its double that easy. My income hasn't doubled in that period. But a good side effect to that is I make more efforts to meet women so I think that's a win win. If you're married that's a different challenge. But if you think that's expensive... I changed my roof this summer and its more than double the price it was on my previous house less than 20 years ago for practically the same work. My snow removal and lawn care contract is tripple what it was and they don't even shovel the path to my front door anymore.

So to answer your question I think its a combo of more expensive services, lower buying power and easier access to guys with more "fuck you money".

PS. I also think the shift in the underworld market going from bikers/italians to street gangs has seriously affected the non-indy market.

As long as OF is around, there will be no resurgence of SPs.

Anyone willing to do SP work can just make more money doing OF

I don't think most girls make that much. Sure the really popular girls could be making serious coin... but most certainly don't. And it take a lot of self-marketing to even have a chance which also means kissing discretion goodbye. I would tend to think OF gets most of the girls that would become strippers. Where sugarbabies, dating apps and snapchat take the SP prospects away from agencies... just my gut speaking of course.

I think that it is not a case of if there will be a recession, it will be when. I will take the example of the sub prime crisis of 2008. I can remember 3 or 4 columns in the Journal de Montreal and 20-25 pages on Craigslist. By 2018-2019 there was a massage place on every main street and sometimes 4 or 5. So the ladies that were in the biz before the pandemic will want to return. There will also be new recruits

I think it is what the market will bear. SP and MP services have in increased 50%. since 2020. If there are more service providers, you may see discounting to lower levels.
As long as OF is around, there will be no resurgence of SPs.
Not every lady wants to wants their face and other things on the WWW for all to see. The ladies that fail at OF are most likely to go into the SP biz. Personally, I do not know what the big fuss is about OF when you can see all that stuff for free on the web.

Not really sure what's the point you're trying to make.

I think there are as many opportunities as ever if not more... just not in the same places as before.

What there are more of are people that can't afford it.

The sex-economy is probably very "matured" so to speak, meaning I don't think there's anything that could happen where the supply would explode or dry up overnight

There's already a community of women who are basically "die hard" working girls. This community most likely doesn't grow much at all, nor does it shrink

This is maybe anecdotal, but I think a little more than 10 years ago, sugaring websites were very popular. There was this idea that you could make money just by going on dates with a man without intimacy and that he would give you a ton of gifts. I remember back then a lot of girls I knew were sugar babies or escorts and completely lied about what actually happened when they were around these men. There was a lot of glamorization going on. The accessibility of these websites to teenage girls made it so that even somebody underage could put herself on the market without knowing too much what was going to happen. I also think that back in the day, there was less of a promise of different ways of making money fast.. The pandemic brought all these promises of being able to easily have your own business or become a well paid influencer through social media. OF is part of that (mostly false) promise.

I know a lot of people who tried sex work when they were very young 10-15 years ago and when things were a little less politically conservative (meaning, also less sexually conservative in my opinion). Some of them had an idealized view of what it would be like and didn't last long, whether it was by trying cam work, stripping or escorting. Some of them actually didn't know what they were getting into. They thought they could just get naked and make hundreds of $$$ or just get paid for hanging out with somebody without ever having to take off their clothes. Basically what I'm saying is that people were more impulsive and naive about the nature of this work in the past, and I think currently there is enough information on the internet to help young women understand that this isn't as easy as they think it is.
