Where do you buy your croissants from in montreal?

I just had to ask.

Hopefully you guys and gals do eat croissants?

I like visiting Fous Desserts and Kouign Amann.

Fous Desserts also has a chocolate almond crossaint with almond paste. Normally don't find (at least me ) both combined. It's not traditional IMHO. But Fous Desserts isn't a traditional shop.

Anything close to Sheraton in downtown ? I am a big croissant fan
(looks like MAISON CHRISTIAN FAURE is close to Sheraton 1225 Boulevard de Maisonneuve)

Last time I stayed in Sheraton, I end up eating my breakfast in hotel lounge (its good, but croissants are factory made)

I would like to try real "french" pastry next trip (Jan 15th to 19th) in two weeks

Just late last year I was in the plateau area with a friend and we tried a French cafe on Laurier Street.

Where you at Toi Moi Café ? Men dont remember the croissant but the Latte there where best I ever had!!

You croissant lovers can thank a good friend of mine who introduced delicious butter French croissants to Montreal and Canada.

About 50 years ago he was travelling in France where he happened to eat a French croissant and compared to the dried biscuit type croissants then available in Montreal....he was blown away by the difference.

He hired the restaurant owner/chef and brought him back to Montreal. Together they opened up a chain of croissantary restaurants and introduced frozen butter croissants to super markets.

The place I go might be far since it is in the west island...but I have a little picky child who like croissants from this place only... But I might be off topic : you are probably croissant's lovers, but not croissant's freaks, aren't you? :lol:

I am a real fan of croissant. Lived in Paris when I was younger and was horrified at the state of most croissants in North America. But when I bought a condo in Montreal I thought to myself... "Maybe I can find a decent croissant in Montreal." So I did some searching and tried a lot of croissant. My conclusion is the best croissant is from Kouign Amann.

The best I have ever eaten we from a patisserie in a small town in Southern France called Montcuq. But Kouign Amann is very close. And an 8 minute walk from my place. :)

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a traditional croissant, but Arhoma's pistachio croissant (and their pistachio + chocolate croissant is one of the best pastries I've tasted. Their regular croissant and most of what they do is delicious too.

I dunno.... what's your defintion of each please since you asked?

I'm surprised there wasn't already a croissant thread. I did search yesterday first. I couldn't find one. I'm liking the responses so far, thank you everyone. Please continue.

I've tried theirs in 2016, one location. They are known for their pistachio croissant which I had. I don't recall how their plain croissant was though.

are presently among my favs.

just tried automneboulangerie two days ago.

Their croissant lacks any much butter aroma. however it is puffed up quite admirably with air pockets between its thin layers, it is not a dense heavy item and offers lots of delicate crackles on the chew. Shapewise its a bit oval, no sharp tips, no fold over the top. Noticable feel of grease on the hand.

More notably are their baguettes imho. Best i have found.
