One thing I do not understand. You simply need to save the password from your browser to avoid all this right?

NO! Captcha appears even if you are autologged in. You CANNOT avoid Captcha. However, on some login attempts I just get the Captcha screen and on other occasions I get sent to the dreaded imaging tests on fire hydrants, crosswalks, bridges, cars, buses, etc. I think it has to do with how quickly you go back on to MERB. If it is not for a while, the imaging tests are coming.

You are roiling and pissing off the wrong people here.

I am sure Admin had a good chuckle at that line LOL.

I appreciate the board and will put up with a captcha if there is a good reason behind it (which there is).

2. 100% of MERBites logging in from Canada do not have to do Captcha

I log in from Canada and had to go through the routine recently, the way to stop it is stay logged in when you leave, it should not happen again after that.

No, unfortunately it does not work like that. Probably the first time your IP address was somehow determined to be from the U.S. (were you by any chance close to the border?) and after that you were officially admitted back to Canada.

many of these web sites went behind cloudfare protection to solve the issue of DDOS.

Good idea.

But I'm sure that the hackers will figure out how to get around Captcha soon enough.

On a related internet security is the recent ransomeware attacks.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/22/...tion=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage

"In most ransomware cases, the identities and whereabouts of culprits are cloaked by clever digital diversions. Intelligence officials, using data collected by the National Security Agency and others in an effort to identify the sources of the hacking, say many have come from Eastern Europe, Iran and, in some cases, the United States. The majority have targeted small-town America, figuring that sleepy, cash-strapped local governments are the least likely to have updated their cyberdefenses or backed up their data."

Working on Northern Alberta for the past 4 months. I never got the
CAPTCHA until a week ago for a few times, then once I did the remember me it never happened again.

When I try to log in on my iPad I have to click on the I’m not a robot question, And have to check off the pictures. On my laptop I have to click on the I’m not a robot, but no pics. Maybe the Chrome browser on my laptop saves my history so I avoid picking the pictures over and over like Safari does on my iPad.

The GreatWaloo I think you may be on to something because I also have noticed, when running the Chrome Browser, that I only get the Captcha nonsense, whereas with Safari on my phone, I get the full imaging test nonsense. There is a big difference in the level of nonsense between merely getting Captcha and instead getting the dreaded Imaging Tests. I am not sure everyone here is even understanding this point unless they have been subjected to it.

Being logged out has nothing to do with it because I am logged in. The Canadian posters here are not understanding that before you ever get to the log in, you get Captcha/Images and then, once you pass, you are automatically logged in as per usual. Captcha is not logging anyone out, it is simply a roadblock thrown in your direction when you click on MERB in your favorite places.

100% correct. Being logged out has nothing to do with it. After getting past the Captcha I’m automatically logged in as well.
