Who's Bob Dylan?

This is evidence of the separation of our generation from the next one, Eastender. It's evidence that we are getting old.
I think all ages and generations appreciate Bob Dylan. I am 26, not too young, not too old, and I'm a huge fan of his (more so as a songwriter).
To be honest, I'm not sure I'd recognize Bob Dylan if I saw him in public. He's got that kind of generic, dirty, drunk old man look about it him. And if I was copper, he'd strike me as a rather suspicious character too. I'm sure you've all seen his many public appearances where he is inebriated beyond words, Grammys, on tour, Expo '67 (he was singing to the curtain and a stage hand had to turn him around, lol).

A few years ago he was interviewed on "60 Minutes" and that is exactly the appearance he has, even for the TV cameras. He was semi-coherent and flighty; at times he made statements that were meaningful and other times I really didn't know what he was talking about as he gave rambling and unresponsive answers to many questions. I would probably recognize him if I saw him on the street, but I can understand why someone would think he was a vagrant. Also, to say he was out of place in the neighborhood where they found him would be a bit of an understatement. Easternder, if he was walking around the Hochelaga/Frontenac neighborhood and the Montreal cops stopped him and asked him what he was doing and he said, "I am looking at the houses", what do you think would happen?
By the ways, I think his song "Lay Lady Lay" is one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of folk/rock music. It's an amazing and extremely original song:

This video has a collage of pics of a young Dylan and a young Joan Baez, another folk singer who sang the classic "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Dylan spent a lot of time fucking her in the 1960s.

I remember reading of a similar thing happening in Winnipeg a couple of years ago, where the owners of a house spotted a mysterious man snooping around their area. Turns out it was Bob Dylan & the house he was snooping around was the house where Neil Young was raised in. I don't even know if the present-day owners even knew that. Dylan was in the area at the time (probably giving a concert) and had decided to venture on his own & try to find Neil Young's boyhood home. Bob Dylan has more & more shown his appreciation of Neil Young over the years & considers him a musical genius. I've seen Young perform in concert several times & the last time was in Mtl at the end of November 2008. He was absolutely brilliant & it just might have been the best live concert i've ever seen, among the likes of U2, AC/DC, Paul McCartney, Cash, Springsteen & others.
People today are surprised when i tell them that many of the songs they've been listening to over the years, including classics from Guns n' Roses, were written & first played by Bob Dylan. Other Dylan songs were made popular by the likes of Johnny Cash (It Ain't Me, Babe....), Neil Young, Eric Clapton, The Byrds, etc.

Fit Right In
Bob Dylan would fit right in with the denizens of Hochelaga / Maisonneuve. There is an artsy quality to some of the neighbourhoods.
