Alright, I might go controversial here.

I am going with Bruce Lee

He is one of the first international star to be Non-Caucasian, and he is one of the grand fathers of mixed martial arts too, the guy studied every style and he has been an actor since he was a kid too. He was one of the few to stand against racial stereotypes.

As for Best actress, I am going with Meryl Streep , I mean this lady, even though she is in a crappy movie, she still stands out, she masters the acting craft to the T, so Meryl Streep is the main lady in my book.

James Bond: 1962–71, 1983
Connery's breakthrough came in the role of secret agent James Bond. He was reluctant to commit to a film series, but understood that if the films succeeded his career would greatly benefit.[27] He played the character in the first five Bond films: Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), and You Only Live Twice (1967) – then appeared again as Bond in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983). All seven films were commercially successful. James Bond, as portrayed by Connery, was selected as the third-greatest hero in cinema history by the American Film Institute.[42]

John Turturro.

His character as Joey Knish in Rounders is inspiring. If you are a professional speculator and planning to be one, his philosophy is immensely useful.

Gotta respect the grinder and not someone who always trying to hit home runs.

Samuel L Jackson - Jules in Pulp
Julianne Moore - The End Of The Affair
Tom Cruise - Magnolia
Christopher Walken - almost anything he does

(Apologies as I'm not following thread title but the post practice of actor/actress in a given role)

Walken should be on everyone's list, and it should be "Everything that he does" lol!

Gary Oldman - From Léon The Professional (such a great movie, one of my ATF's) to The Fifth Element to Dracula (another great one, minus Keanu of course) to everything else after that.

Agreed regarding Oldman and because he should be on everyone's list by default, I did not list him (at least that will be my excuse and not "it was an egregious oversight). I absolutely love everything he does be it In Hannibal, Lost in Space, JFK, or True Romance (which had AMAZING performances from Oldman, Walken, Dennis Hopper, James Gandolfini, and others)
