According to his published account of the capture of Ticonderoga (in 1779, four years after the fact), Allen claimed to have called on the British commander to surrender, "...in the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress!" Other accounts say that his words were more prosaic, such as "Come out, you Old Rat!", or even, "Surrender, you Sons of British Whores!". That last would, I suppose, put this whole thread more or less on topic.
BTW: I wonder how many Montrealers are aware that Montreal was occupied by Continental forces for about six months in 1775-76? Continental rather than US because the Brits kicked them out before the Declaration was signed. Historical research indicates that the Brits' main issue was that the Continentals were "driving up prices".
