He is only Trump's spokesperson.

I am sure that if many Americans were asked this question, the answer would be very different.

It really depends what your priorities are.
If we are talking for purely hobbying the average guy has every reason to come to Canada especially to Montreal, there is nowhere else in North America where you will have such value for you money.

If you are talking of people in Trump‘s tax bracket where money is not an object then he may be correct, I am sure he can find equivalent talent in the US that he can have delivered to his doorstep, he doesn’t even have to put down his burger and fries.

Trumps tax bracket? There’s no tax bracket. From the overt dude who has a confederate flag on his truck who is packin’ heat with his maga hat, to the white collared professional with a 7 figure salary who doesn’t wanna tell anyone he thinks that if George Floyd just used a regular $20 bill “none of this woulda happened” Trumps appeal is broad. No question about that.

There r tons of Americans who have family in Canada and vice versa. Mongering is probably on the end of the list for the general population, including mongerers as to why they wanna get back into Canada.

In three months in office, the President of the United States seems to have developed a rare gift: that of arousing indignation at every major decision. The latest one once again attracts the wrath of the scientific and medical community. The Donald Trump administration has proposed to cut $ 1.23 billion from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as part of the federal state’s operating budget.

Not to mention that, in addition to the immediate reduction, the administration wants to cut the NIH budget by $ 5.8 billion.

I had American students who came to learn a technique here, at the time they practically all wanted to return to the USA, because there was much more money for medical research.

Today I wonder what their answer would be.
They were all very bright students.

You are never going to see the guys with the confederate flags here anyway. They have probably never ventured outside their state and as far as hobbying they have enough female and male cousins to go around no need for escorts.

I agree there are many Americans who have family here and can appreciate Canada and Montreal for many other things besides the gorgeous women.
It sucks for all of us I would love to see my American family members and friends, can’t wait for all this shit to normalize somewhat so that we can all see each other.

Maybe not confederate flag wavers per se, but there are lots of Americans who go to Canada on extended trips just to hunt, or fish. I knew 2 guys who would road trip to Canada every year- can't remember if it was Manitoba or Saskatchewan (I think the latter) just to hunt ducks. We are talking several day's drive just to shoot at some birds. I am sure plenty of hunters and fishermen, especially in the border states, have had annual trips to Canada disrupted.

EB,

You are right there are many hunters and fishermen from all over the world coming every year to Canada.
The national park near Cornwall Ontario(just over the Quebec border) is usually swamped with Brits for carp fishing every year and across on the US side of the border also.

Furthermore, just as a matter of geographical range and territory, Muskies and Walleyes can really only be caught in the very northernmost reaches of the USA, and even then they are rarely caught there. One needs to go to Canada, where they are more prevalent and common, to pursue these highly prized gamefish. Even enormous northern USA lakes like Lake Champlain and Lake George have no Muskies, although I have personally seen Northern Pike caught in Lake George. Muskies get bigger than Northern PIke, and many fishermen see them as bigger game/more worthy targets of their fishing endeavors.

Unfortunately all of the game fish you mention are getting scarce in the fishing spots near Montreal in the last ten years.
You now have to go into more remote areas to be able to catch them, except for maybe pike.

I can remember being able to catch 7-8 , 20-30lb carp ( Quebecers won’t go near this fish it is European thing) in an hour in Valleyfield and Walleye, Muskie and Northern Pike were abundant also. There was also always a delegation of Chinese fisherman at night fishing for eels good to eat but horrible to catch as you could not remove the hook and if they got on your clothes you could never wash out that white slime they left on.
Personally I only fish for sport, I release them as soon as I catch them, I don’t really like eating fresh water fish.

Don’t forget moose you two. If I ever make my way up there with one of my old bosses, I’ll have you boys, Sammy, James and Celina for some BBQ moose burgers. We can call them euphoria burgers

Pussy and poutine, other than that the hockey coverage is great. If it wasn’t for the first two I’d never travel north of the border.

No need to go to Canada to hunt Moose. They are plentifully hunted in Maine. Vermont has a 6 day, permit only archery season in October for Moose, although there are less of them in VT than in Maine. NH has a similar 9 day permit only hunting season for Moose. I did see a Moose in the wild in central Vermont some years ago, from a safe distance.

What’s the deal with back round check before purchasing guns in USA? Is it applied or not present? I don’t think I’ve ever heard a well thought out explanation by Trump as to why he supports the NRA other than dems wanna take your guns, which I’m not sure how true that is unless your that Beto bloke.

TNB. The background check you refer to is done by the Federal Gov't. It can be done in a matter of minutes. I once purchased a handgun at a gunshow in Mesquite, TX. It took 10 minutes to complete. It's done electronically. If you have a criminal record, it will pop up and depending on the State, you may be denied the purchase. As EB mentioned every State has their own rules. In Texas, I think you couldn't have any felonies or more than 1 misdemeanor, and no domestic violence convictions. U.S. Cities like New York, and Washington, D.C. do not allow the posession/ownership of firearms, with very limited exceptions.
However, the background check is only for legal purchasers of firearms. If you are a convict/criminal or just want to kill some one (with an untraceable gun) then you can easily obtain weapons illegally, off the street, in the U.S.
The NRA complains that this is a hindrance to law abiding citizens, while criminals have no such deterrent. Gun sales are skyrocketing in U.S. due to this pandemic and chaos in inner cities. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52189349

Look behind you.
^^^^^^ When this virus hit most gun
shops out west ran out of ammo and guns real fast. I have friends that usually have 10,000 rounds of ammo, they now have 30,000 to 40,000 rounds.
