Not a Canadian but I don’t understand why Trudeau won’t lift C-36 before Oct 2019 elections? It should be an easy win and rally the liberals to his side. I imagine there’s a strong punter voter bloc :D

Look behind you.
It will take a lot more than changing bill C-36 for that POS to win, who the fuck actually thinks he deserves to ruin Canada more than he has already.

.

The pot legalization was for tax purposes only ( when someone is broke they use drastic measures to make money, like sell drugs ), the weed is expensive and not top quality, for bill C-36, how did that affect you? It was meant to protect the escorts, and combat underaged prostitutes, that bothers you.....?

Trudeau never will. If he did it would be political suicide. He will alienate the evangelicals, social conservatives, and feminists. Currently except for Quebec and part of Ontario Canadians are still too conservative to ever accept legalized prostitution. They are still prudes.

As I have pointed out before, Trudeau is on record as believing that prostitution is a form of violence against women. There is no way he would support overturning C-36.

Justin Trudeau: Prostitution A Form Of Violence Against Women

"For now, I'm just very, very mindful that the Supreme Court came down very clearly that the current approach is not protecting extremely vulnerable women and sex workers and we need to make sure that we are finding a way to keep vulnerable Canadians protected from violence that surrounds prostitution but also is intrinsic to prostitution," Trudeau said.

In French, Trudeau went further, saying it's important to recognize that "prostitution itself is a form of violence against women." He called for a "responsible, informed debate" on the issue.

Trudeau also said Liberals are "certainly going to look at" the so-called Nordic model, which penalizes those who purchase sex, not those who sell it.

Good strong points by everyone. Conventional wisdom clearly dictates that repealing C-36 isn’t going to win votes for Trudeau plus Capt. raises an excellent point about Trudeau’s own beliefs.

But sitting in my armchair far away from the action, I see a Canada that feels their young telegenic PM is a lightweight wuss who doesn’t have the balls to lead them through a world that has become markedly more dangerous since the 2015 elections. The economy is fine and it should have been an easy election for Trudeau but yet, the latest polls indicate he is down.

Following conventional wisdom hasn’t worked out for Trudeau lately. Maybe time to mix it up a little and replace that gentle soft image with a humble hardworking everyday man who gets what’s actually happening in real life. Trudeau can start with pointing out the obvious fact that C-36 is ineffective, flawed and that the government has better things to do than to play morality police.

Trudeau can maybe finally get creative - Repeal C-36 & just drag his feet on decriminalisation, essentially going back to pre C-36 times.

The media is always going to hype up the messiness of decriminalization because sex sells. Trudeau should just bait the Conservatives and paint them as a bunch of impotent old men who hate sex & women.

The fact is that decriminalization works well & most countries practice some form of decriminalization w.r.t prostitution even if their respective laws explicitly bans prostitution. The biggest ironies, of course being the Phillipines & Thailand where prostitution is technically illegal but the police treating it as decriminalized.

As many prostitutes will point out, they’re doing a public service - Without prostitutes, there are going to be an overwhelming number of super horny men with no outlet, who knows what they’ll do to satisfy their primal urges. Even the pigs won’t be safe.
