Your most disappointing departure of a persona in a tv series or movie franchise?

The best advice I got when a friend told me to watch Games of thrones was to enjoy it but do not get attached...too bad I didn't follow his advice...
Keep getting upset when my favourites dies...
The red wedding is still the most horrifying scene for me...snif
and now Jon Snow...sigh I hope the rumors are true

Most recently, the Megan Boone character (Elizabeth Keen) in one of my favorite tv series "The Black List". I was shocked by her passing!!!

Well, it turns out that she ain't dead after all. She faked her own death and was later met in Cuba by Tom and Agnes. And they lived happily ever after. Not! Another $&$&# season finale cliffhanger to keep us guess all summer long!! I hate that!!! Grrrrr!

When Tuco Salamanca was killed early on in Breaking Bad, it certainly didn't hurt the show, as he was eventually replaced by a more sophisticated villain in Gus. But Tuco's volatility, instability and complete unpredictability and his ability to instill fear, shock and awe in the other characters in a show was a presence that was missed, in my opinion. As in this seen:

Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) of Cheers. So dynamic for everyone else to play off.

Lt Colonel Henry Blake (McLean Stevenson) and Major Frank Burns (Larry Linville) of MASH. I think people badly underestimate what Larry Linville did for the show.

Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and especially John Snow (Kit Harrington) of the great Game of Thrones. Couldn't believe they let Snow get killed. I think everyone got very angry about it.

James Bond by Sean Connery. Perfect casting. Set the mark for the entire series.

Coach (Nicholas Colasanto) from Cheers; and Barney from the Andy Griffith Show. Seriously.

When Wayne Rogers as Trapper John and McClean Stevenson as Henry Blake left MASH. These two were hillarious on the show. Their replacements never made me even crack a smile let alone laugh in all the years that they replaced these two,

When Phil Hartman died, he checked out of two series : NewsRadio, and The Simpsons.
In NewsRadio , they replaced his character with Jon Lovitz, but in The Simpsons, his characters, like actor Troy McClure and the lawyer Lionel Hutz, just...stopped appearing.

D.A Adam Shiff(law&order) personified by Steven Hill who brought credibility to the character.
Never really replaced with the same quality.

Personally, I did not find his acting to be believable in Law and order as well as Mission Impossible. I found Peter Graves did a better job.

The character of Adam Schiff is loosely based upon long-serving New York County, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.

Not really relevant to the topic question ,even if I do agree that PEter Grave was way better in Mission Impossible

Good one Splotch. I loved those Simpson characters....I remember Troy McClure from Today We Kill and Tomorrow We Die and Gladys the Groovy Mule. Here are a few other Troy McClure movies:

Aaron Hotchner is a fictional character from the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds, portrayed by Thomas Gibson. He is a Supervisory Special Agent and the unit chief of the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, and has appeared from the series' pilot episode "Extreme Aggressor", which was originally broadcast on September 22, 2005.

On August 12, 2016, CBS producers announced that Gibson had been dismissed from Criminal Minds following a physical altercation with one of the show's writers and that "creative details" regarding the character's departure would be announced at a later date.[1]
