Katz’s rules, but when I see those sandwiches I feel like the people eating them on a regular basis are all heart attack candidates. Schwartz’s does a nice job with smoked meat, but in truth they are a very, very small time operation in comparison to Katz’s.
Hey and talk about the service at katz’s, absolutely wonderful the best of the best. Young nubile females who take your order with a smile and style. A most wonderful place to be served in, lol.
A buddy of mine was in Montreal last week and he raved about an upscale Syrian restaurant in Le Plateau, called Damas. He said the house specialty, or one of them, is called Damas, which is a hummus dip into which is mixed filet mignon. It is an appetizer believe it or not and he said it was quite filling.
I like the Ben and Jerry’s on De Maissoneueve near Crescent Street. There iare also a couple of ice cream vendors in Complex Desjardins.
I performed a search on my trusted Yelp app on Ice cream parlors in Montreal sorted by highest ratings.The results:
1. Kem CoBa, 60 Fairmount Avenue O
2. Cremerie Meu Meu 4458 St. Denis
3. Ripples 3880 Boulevard St Laurent
Kem CoBa has the most reviews (which is why they sort ranked #1) and there are some complaints about wait times at Meu Meu. All 3 are rated 4.5 star ice cream parlors per Yelp reviewers.
Go to all 3, do a taste test and post the results!!!

Top 3 dumpling houses based on Yelp ratings:
1. HAO - 251 Rue Rachel East
2. Mai Xiang Yuan- 1082 Boulevard St Laurent
3. The Dumpling Hut - 3591 Rue Clark
HAO is a Filipino dim sum place and is rated 5 stars. I have been to Mai Xiang Yuan and they are very good. Sammi Soup Dumplings in Chinatown II also very good.

Bo-Bec is a wonderful place but they do not have gelato. They have ice cream of the North American variety.
Roberto for years had the best gelato in the city, but no more. You'll find the best...by very far...at FCO on Viger near Square Victoria.
As for the best dumplings in town, Harbin at the corner of Villeneuve and St. Laurent claims that prize.

Poulet rouge @ Rue St Catherine. The volcano chicken with Monterrey jack cheese and jalapeños as extras, highly recommend, will repeat for sure, good after drinking session meal, as always YMMV
If you are looking for soup dumplings (aka "Xiaolongbao"), by far the best place is (in my view, of course) Sammi & Soupe Dumpling,1909 Saint-Catherine St W. Try lamb&coriander (steamed, not fried), they are exquisite. You need to know how to handle them though.
