They’re after Andrea Heming because of what she did with her Lucky Charms.
Heming, 47, didn’t show up for her sentencing on a poisoning charge this week, and a judge issued a warrant for her arrest.
Prosecutors said Heming poisoned her husband by injecting boric acid into his NOS energy drink, Miracle Whip and cereal at their Spring Valley home.
Heming said she didn’t want her husband dead; she simply wanted to make him impotent because he had been having unwanted sex with her while she slept at night.
“Andrea stated that she wouldn’t use that much to kill him but just enough to make him not have an erection,” a police report stated. “Andrea further stated she wouldn’t use enough to kill as she was in the final process of becoming an American citizen.”
Boric acid is commonly used to kill insects such as cockroaches, termites and scorpions, and if taken in high enough doses, boric acid could be deadly to humans.
Ralph Heming told police he suffered from diarrhea every day for four to six months.
He suffered from unexplained nose bleeds. His face would turn red, and he often felt hot and lethargic.
Prosecutor Hetty Wong said authorities have found no evidence to substantiate the sexual allegations. Andrea Heming never reported being raped until after she was arrested.
She was originally charged with attempted murder, but pleaded guilty in December to a single charge of poisoning or adulterating food, water or medicine.
Ralph Heming, who installs security cameras for a living, had several planted throughout the couple’s home, according to a police report.
The couple, married four years, quarreled continually, and Andrea Heming had taken out a $20,000 life insurance policy on her husband through her job as a housekeeper at the Flamingo, according to police.
Andrea Heming didn’t like all the cameras around the house, particularly in the kitchen, her husband said. And that’s part of what helped prosecutors prove the charge against her. Authorities found three days of video where Andrea Heming tampered with her husband’s food and drink.
“Andrea opens the box of General Mills cereal Lucky Charms and pulls a cup and appears to pour the powder inside of the box and begins to mix it around,” according to a report describing the video. “Andrea closes the box and returns it to the pantry cabinet.”
Along with the Miracle Whip and energy drink, Andrea Heming also admitted to pouring boric acid into a box of Kellogg’s Corn Pops, police said.
Her attorney, Michael Pandullo, could not be reached for comment.
If caught, Andrea Heming faces up to 15 years in prison.
But authorities seem unwilling to chase her to the end of the rainbow.
After pleading guilty, Andrea Heming posted a $50,000 bail, and she may have fled to Mexico, where she was born, according to the prosecutor.
“It’s unlikely we’re ever going to see her again,” Wong said.
