Can always find a used bike cheap on Kijiji, eBay, etc. It doesn't have to be new. I'd recommend either a hybrid (what I have) or a road bike.

Last summer, I was doing 25km on bike everyday. Was a great way of losing weight. Honestly, it doesn't even feel like work...it's more fun than anything.
Brisk walking with jogging 5 days a week with building muscle and eating a lot of antioxidants really works for me

I don't have a bike. I try to walk (fast walk, not slow pace) but at some point it get tiresome to see the same small town everytime. I often joke around with peoples that in my town you can go 1 town limit to the other on foot. Its that small. Otherwise i would like team sports but im not sure how to get in them and i don't have any friends to "casually do them".

You could buy a walking pad with an incline (15%). They are not too expensive. Set it in front of the TV and walk away. 30-45 minutes at an incline will burn more calories than just walking. That is if you're tired of seeing the same neighborhood. It is also great during winter

As long as he doesn't go for one of those damn electric bikes. Thinking they're out there exercising while barely moving their legs lol.

@Halloween Mike I am very late to the conversation but I have great experience with bad genetics while maintaining a decent shape. I have to be careful going to the gym because I can bulk really fast and that's not what I am looking for.

90% of this is diet and your diet need improvement a lot if you want to shred. But it is hard and I am struggling between diet and being able to enjoy life. I hate vegetables and my favorite activity is social drinking. I did the keto diet which works a lot but you need to be careful because it can lead to health problems. So I am doing diet in 2 phases : Maintain and shred. Shred mode is mostly like Keto or Ducan . Mostly meat, eggs, chicken, turkey bacon... protein with a little bit of the rest like rice, greek salad, low fat cheese. I am doing this 1 - 2 months max at the time because you can overload your liver. You need to drink more water on this too.

Crave... -> Depends which one but not a lot. Could be okay in "maintain mode"
Jonathan Garnier... --> I don't really know this
Chicken Wraps (just not every day). Depends which. Tim Hortons stuff sucks.
Healthy choice. --> No clue but sounds not too bad.
Submarines from store. --> Avoid as much as possible
Chicken breast or "sliced" to cook --> Amazing
"Steak haché" either in tacos or as hamburger --> hmm, avoid hamburger. That's a struggle. Hamburger is my favorite meal.
Ocasionally regular steak. --> Amazing. Eat more in shred mode but limit in maintain mode.
Chunky soups --> Avoid
Chef boyardi pasta --> Avoid
Pizza ocasionally --> Avoid

In shred mode, I don't buy bread for 2-3 weeks. It is very hard because western civilization has been relying on this for centuries but look at Japan. Barely no fat people there... They barely eat bread from what I have been told. I replace that with meat.

I am not a professional. This is just my life experience as an endomorph mid 40s guy working on a desk jobs or sales rep jobs eating at restaurants with customers. If that's something you think can help you and / or need advice, feel free to PM me.

Best of luck and take care.

I got one to go to gym.
I find it pretty good to warmup.
It is similar to a bike erg at PAS 1 or 2.
Sometimes If I’m in a hurry, I can put it at « Tour de France » speed without an excessive waist of energy.

Don't know if this was mentioned before but bariatric surgery changed my life, i'm in my 50s and you're righ, losing weight is more complicated with age.
I went from 133 kilos to 113.
I can give more information about this if anyone's interested, but you should ask your doctor.

There is NO WAY i will do this personally. I am not "that fat" to be immobile and these surgery not only require the same motivation to loose weight innitially, but on top after it you litterally CAN'T eat what you want. For a guy like me, that is not a consideration. I understand for guys like Boogie2988 (youtuber) or such, it was the last resort, but in my case i can still move fine, walk, run, do sports etc.

@TooSexy4MyCat thanks for the advices. Honestly i think if i only reduce beer more, even naturally eating would be fine to lower to at the very least 250. It seem to always be link to beers. Its the hardest for me to manage. Not because i like the taste that much or anything (i do like good micro brewerie beers but not so much commercial beer), but because "beer nights" are different nights for me. I watch movies and/or shows, then i game, and i don't see the time pass. While when i don't drink, i can't do the same, its like the fun is not there the same. Some movies i do watch without beers like yesterday i watched Interstellar, its really not a movie i would had watch tipsy, way too much of a slow burn, but watching an action movie or a dumb comedy, gotta do it with beer, make the experience so much better. Then for gaming again depend what i game, but when i drink i can game on Gears 5 all night, while if not, i get tired of it after 5-6 games. Its weird to explain.

Otherwise i seem to be able to keep most of the junk food in check...

There are different types of bariatric surgeries so it's a bit more complex than what you describe but if that's not your thing, no problem :)

I’ve been at the gym 20 years and eating a lot of antioxidants with building muscle! Not fun but tried to keep this habit going

Recent numbers have been published on obesity rates in Canada, and it's not looking good... The prevalence of adult obesity went from 25% in 2009 to 33% in 2023, and the upward trend accelerated post-pandemic. One statistic that will be of interest to readers of this board is that the sub-group that saw the largest increase in obesity is women aged 18-29, going from 13% in 2009 to 22% in 2023.

@Halloween Mike Two of best good friends own microbreweries and I love IPA A LOT. Even knowing alcohol is the worst of everything I can ingest, I love it. I decided to keep beer on the menu but moderate and compensate but cutting bread and pasta nearly completely. Everyone makes its own choice. That was mine

I'm not satisfied with my weight loss, slow progress.

I think I'll starve myself for 3 days.

Have you tried intermittent fasting ? Been doing it for about 6 months. Lost about 30 lbs and best part, no loose skin.

I am not sure I would recommend starvation but world history proves that method is working for sure...maybe too much ! :-S

Isn't even Ozempic technically starving themselves thin, along with added fat burning where it isn't desired too?

I think I'll go with intermittent fasting. And try to do it in a way where I maintain and learn control rather than rely on an expencive medication to do the job. While struggling with gain the moment they reach their goal and try to stop taking it, to realize if they stop, the cravings come back full force.

It isn't easy. Every way has some kind of compromise. All weightless is some kind of calorie deficiency, and attempt to make it easier to starve one's self.

My goal is just to be happy and healthy, and I've lost 15 lbs since the begining of June.

Surgery is another route with like long after effects, but to those who choose it, they made the best choice for them. Dr's are required to let them know what the risks and after surgery will be.

I'm not a doctor but I believe Ozempic likely has serious long term effects. exercise, vegetables, fruits are important.

Ya, im on my 3rd week of intermittent fasting - 16:8 fasting, I went from 194 to 179.4 but fluctuated to 187 somehow, wtf

I also do 8 h window, wake up black coffee and water.
My first meat is at 11am , often 4 eggs fried in oil, bacon, avocado and salad.
Steak and steak sandwiches in the afternoon and whatever I'm craving at the end by 7pm.
And then back to coffee and water at night.

The biggest difference for me, other than the weight loss, is how focused I can be in the morning and expedite 70% of my day before my first meal.

I have been seeing everyone around me loose weight that way. I chose to go the harder route. But doing surprisingly at the moment so going with it.

Been doing duo shots, and if this keeps up, will need to take new ones in no time.

I kind of do this without trying... I have my coffee, with hotchocolate mix, I can't take the bitterness of black coffee, but hotchocolate mix replaces both milk and sugar, (carnation, as quick tastes like sugar) at 7am. And then I remember by 9-10pm, that I haven't eaten all day, as I try to eat something. I get 100% of my day in before I get hungry.
Lost 15lbs, by not taking my mid-day chocolate bar. And not binging when I do eat now.
