I think that when Kimmel's superiors told him to bag his plans, he pushed back in a profane and insubordinate way, and then they fired him. You really think that the whole story is being reported? There was a fight. Kimmel did not win it. He miscalculated the value of his input.

ABC fired Kimmel, and I believe they took into consideration many other factors besides his actual "free speech". Based on that article I think a huge reason why he was fired was trying to tell his superiors how they should do their jobs- in short, ego and insubordination. They're obviously not saying it's a KKK rally, but I recently learned how to read between the lines.
