I don't ask for deposits but the reason many indies do it is because we get so many cancellations and no shows... It's a very valid reason and I've been considering it myself

If she has reviews that confirm she’s a legitimate provider, then being asked for a deposit is normal. I’ve never heard of a SP ask for the full donation be made through a gift card. As for deposits, we, as providers, deal with plenty of people every day who aren’t serious. Many just message for attention or for their own entertainment, and others like the idea of booking but never actually follow through.Curious, as I was texting a lady for a meeting in Laval, and she required payment either in etransfer or Razer Gold gifts cards. I was not going to etransfer a random person that I have never met, however why would she prefer a Razor gift card over cash, as I did offer cash but she only wanted the gift card. At the end I refused since did not want to be stuck with gift cards that I cannot use if it goes nowhere.

Requesting a deposit or even a gift card (which can remain anonymous on your end) isn’t unusual for a deposit. It’s just a way to confirm that someone is serious and committed to the booking.
So, if you mentioned you weren’t gonna Etransfer a person you’ve never met - I think it was just meant for a deposit, not the whole sum.
I personally don’t even answer people anymore who start being difficult for the deposit - everything is written on my website on how to book. It’s such a waste of time when people don’t read and reach out uselessly. Imagine if we’d have to answer to everyone who isn’t serious - give our address without proper vetting to complete strangers. Lord knows how many people made me believe they were coming and there was no one who showed up that had my address. How many times at the beginning did I get ready for nothing and wonder if a client was showing up or not. It’s unnecessary stress and completely chaotic.
Pretty accurate except that people rarely ask SPs "is it still available?"The feeling is like on Marketplace:
- You have tons of enquiry like: Are you available?
You say: Yes
Then they ghost you.
- They ask you tone shit of questions if it's like new, super used, nice, etc.
- They directly ask you for half the price you listed
- They agree on a meeting day and time, but they never show up
- They meet you and suddenly they begin to negotiate
Oh yes they do. If only you’d know how many people text: “allo bb dispo” “hi - available?” At all hours of the day/ night and everyday. The most annoying texts ever!! As if we’re plugged into a wall like a robot always ready and a full face of makeup!! To many people - us SPs have no lives apparently hahahah!Pretty accurate except that people rarely ask SPs "is it still available?"![]()

Yeah, what I learnt is you can think of yourself as a normal, good or very good person. But in reality it doesn't matter. What matters is the perception from the others.Absolutely!!!!
There are members on MERB who use their status here to try to seem more trustworthy or reputable when reaching out to us. They’ll lean on that instead of following the booking process, and then just keep talking endlessly or trying to sext.
It’s really simple: introduce yourself, read the website, say what you’re looking for, and secure the booking by sending a deposit and respecting our time.
I can’t guess who’s reliable without a deposit for the 1st time at least. This is a business for us as well at the end of the day. Many of us recognize the signs right away… we can usually tell from the start who’s serious and who isn’t and sometimes we don’t respond because we already know it’s not going anywhere and then they start asking questions about the depositLike please go away and go masturbate instead if you can’t do basic research. And if you’re not comfortable sending a deposit - opt for a gift card. “I got scammed” well. Sorry. But us too. Many times.
We have lives too. Time is precious.
Imagine the waste of time and how stupid you feel answering to every message as if you’re Santa Claus. Getting nowhere. Lmao.
True, I could have perhaps offered just 50% payment as an option for the gift cards. Of course, if this person had positive reviews here an Merb, than it would not be an issue, however this is not the case as there is no mention of this lady on Merb, and therefore this makes me sceptical. If she has reviews that confirm she’s a legitimate provider, then being asked for a deposit is normal. I get the joke, it reminded me of guys who want to see us first thing in the morning because they think we all see 20 clients a day and don't shower in between and they think that ''it'' will feel different after ''so many people got in''. lolI don't think you got the joke but that's ok![]()

That perception or vibe is built over maybe lot of your interactions, actions.
