My social/ dating life :)

serious horror movies:
The Exorcist
The Omen
The Others
28 days later
Salem's Lot
Alien
Midsommar
Hereditary

Special mention:
Threads --> a 1984 apocalyptic anti-war TV drama... this is likely the scariest of all, as it was a scientifically accurate (based on the knowledge of the time) to the economic, social, and environmental consequences of a full, gloves off, nuclear war
it is actually available for free in Youtube, and if you can endure the boring first 30 minutes, it gets scary afterwards

light and/ or masturbation helpers for teenagers -- those with some soft porn / erotic component
- Some Hammer films
- Most Friday 13
- Most Night of the Living death
threads marked me. war-related things deeply disturb me everytime.

Those movies, like the Friday the 13th franchise belong more in the "nostalgic" folder than in the "greatest horror movies", i enjoy watching them from time to time cause of what they remind me of, but they are not objectively great horror movies. :)
I agree! I feel like most of those belong in the "guilty pleasures" category.

But who are we to judge, right? If you can’t allow guilty pleasures on MERB, where can you?!?

It's a found footage of a mockumentary if you like but yes, the whole concept of the movie is based on the footage thay found of the explorers after they were killed. It's not a "shaky camera" kind of movie but still.
Found footage and mockumentary are not exactly the same thing! Sorry I don't want to sound annoying lol I'm just really nerdy and passionate about this.

A mockumentary is basically a fake documentary sometimes using "found footage" but it's structured that way narratively.

Meanwhile found footage is just basically the "found footage" being presented to the viewer as if they discovered it along with the characters. Almost all found footage is horror in my experience but a lot of movies and tv shows aren't horror and are mockumentary style.

They definitely have similar aesthetics tho. And some are kinda both? Obviously a movie like Cannibal Holocaust inspired the genre.

Do you mean "Return of the Living dead" series?
In the 1st one there's this "classic" scene

Yes that is the one!!!

Most 80s light horror movies had some nudity and soft porn elements to bring the horny boys to theater.
The promiscuous couple typically the first victim of Jason or whoever was the franchise monster

70s Hammer films had gorgeous, scantily clad "vampires" like Ingrid Pitt, Caroline Munroe, Madeline Smith

Yeah, the 'Return of the Living Dead' and it sequel have been huge influences on my own written satirical pieces, which can be likened to 'zombie porn.' Great films.

I love the sexy vampire 70s films. One of my favorite genres and often pretty sapphic

Peak (70s) Caroline Munroe can suck my blood anytime

There was a movie filmed from the point of view of the monster, Imagine Friday 13 if the camera was following Jason.
I think from 2024 or so, has anybody watched it?

EDIT: it is called "In a Violent Nature"
Super interested in watching it, I don't know if it is good

Exactly and at the same 80s horror was very judgmental, it was a reflection of the Reagan era i suppose. If you smoke pot or had sex you were a very likely candidate to get killed. The whole Friday 1(again)
The hornies, the nerds, the high school nasty gossip girls were always first pick for Jason.
The surviving heroine was always GND cute and virginal. Lol

I was a teen in the late 80s and I remember being super excited for these movies.
I was not going to ask , mom dad I want to rent (betamax) this sort porno movie, it was I like horror movies then jerk off to the naked redhead that got devoured by zombies
