My social/ dating life :)

serious horror movies:
The Exorcist
The Omen
The Others
28 days later
Salem's Lot
Alien
Midsommar
Hereditary

Special mention:
Threads --> a 1984 apocalyptic anti-war TV drama... this is likely the scariest of all, as it was a scientifically accurate (based on the knowledge of the time) to the economic, social, and environmental consequences of a full, gloves off, nuclear war
it is actually available for free in Youtube, and if you can endure the boring first 30 minutes, it gets scary afterwards

light and/ or masturbation helpers for teenagers -- those with some soft porn / erotic component
- Some Hammer films
- Most Friday 13
- Most Night of the Living death
threads marked me. war-related things deeply disturb me everytime.

Those movies, like the Friday the 13th franchise belong more in the "nostalgic" folder than in the "greatest horror movies", i enjoy watching them from time to time cause of what they remind me of, but they are not objectively great horror movies. :)
I agree! I feel like most of those belong in the "guilty pleasures" category.

But who are we to judge, right? If you can’t allow guilty pleasures on MERB, where can you?!?

It's a found footage of a mockumentary if you like but yes, the whole concept of the movie is based on the footage thay found of the explorers after they were killed. It's not a "shaky camera" kind of movie but still.
Found footage and mockumentary are not exactly the same thing! Sorry I don't want to sound annoying lol I'm just really nerdy and passionate about this.

A mockumentary is basically a fake documentary sometimes using "found footage" but it's structured that way narratively.

Meanwhile found footage is just basically the "found footage" being presented to the viewer as if they discovered it along with the characters. Almost all found footage is horror in my experience but a lot of movies and tv shows aren't horror and are mockumentary style.

They definitely have similar aesthetics tho. And some are kinda both? Obviously a movie like Cannibal Holocaust inspired the genre.
