Student protests in France have degenerated into widespread destruction and burning, as the 19th century town hall of Limoges was burned down, among other buildings.

In Paris and other cities shops and monuments are being looted and vandalized, and even elderly people being robbed

France was surveying scenes of devastation on Sunday after a day of nationwide protests against the soaring cost of living descended into widespread rioting, with masked groups looting hundreds of shops, setting public buildings ablaze and clashing with police. In the most dramatic incident, a historic city hall that had survived both world wars was largely destroyed by fire, its tower collapsing as flames engulfed the building.

By Sunday, the number of arrests had risen to 1,800, while more than 500 police officers, gendarmes and firefighters had been injured, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu had earlier described the violence as being of "extreme intensity" and warned that the financial damage would be substantial.
The full extent of the destruction remained unclear, but hundreds of stores were reported looted in Paris alone. Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire said that entire streets had been systematically devastated. The French newspaper Le Parisien described extensive destruction in several neighborhoods, reporting that rioters had spared virtually no businesses around the Les Halles district in central Paris.

Tobacco shops, opticians, beauty salons, pharmacies, clothing stores and other commercial establishments were damaged. Dozens of additional stores were vandalized near Porte Saint-Denis in the 10th arrondissement, where piles of garbage and burned bicycles were left scattered across sidewalks, with smoke still rising from the wreckage on Sunday morning. Sanitation workers sent to clear the debris told Le Parisien that the cleanup would take days.

In Paris, an elderly couple were reportedly robbed and left in the street wearing only their underwear. Elsewhere, rioters set fire to vehicles and public property, leaving streets littered with shattered glass, debris and the remains of burned barricades.

This is Canada's future. Years of uncontrolled mass immigration leads to a high cost of living and stagnant wages while millionaires get richer. Trudeau's policies leads to this and Carney continues Trudeau's agenda. I hope Canadians look at what is happening jn France before reelecting the Liberal government again.

So, France has its Intifada driven mostly by the large Muslim population. Maybe it is time for the left to demand a separate state from the sea-to sea with the lovely sharia law?

But then where will France find its future doctors and engineers?

The riots in France should serve as a warning to America.

“You are starting to elect people who promise you more state, more redistribution, more "free" things. New York already has a democratic socialist mayor, perhaps the furthest-left since Fiorello La Guardia. I'm not here to tell you how to vote. I'm here to tell you how this story ends, because we lived it. France ran this experiment for 40 years, and we are now living its final chapter.

It starts in May 1981. François Mitterrand wins the presidency with the Communists in government. The program is pure romance. They nationalize the big banks and industrial groups. They lower the retirement age to 60, cut the work week, add a fifth week of paid vacation, create a wealth tax, and hire massively in the public sector. "Changer la vie", change life itself. That was the slogan.

Reality took less than two years to answer. Capital fled. The franc was devalued three times. Inflation stayed in double digits while our neighbors were bringing theirs down. In March 1983, Mitterrand made a U-turn and imposed austerity, "le tournant de la rigueur".

Remember this, because it is the pattern. Socialism doesn't fail once and disappear. It fails, reinvents itself, and changes its electorate…”

France is Canada's future. They are rioting for high cost of living and stagnant wages. That is what rapid population growth does. There are many similarities to what is happening in Canada. Mass uncontrolled immigration then the ever expanding welfare state only serves to make corporations and millionaires richer. Everything gets more expensive and wages drop. Also far-left governments are intentionally making energy more expensive with climate change policies. All of this is related and what is happening in France is where Canada is headed with this corrupt Liberal government.

Sexual assault against women and girls has grown exponentially in europe in the last decade or so. What's really causing it? Take a guess

Note France at the top

https://www.euronews.com/2026/05/05...-offences-are-rising-in-the-eu-new-data-shows
While the push for an EU-wide consent-based definition of rape shows that the bloc is serious about tackling the crime, data shows an upward trend in both rape and sexual violence over the past decade.

Between 2014 and 2024, sexual violence offences jumped by 94% and rape offences by 150%.

During this period, sexual violence offences increased continuously by nearly 10% annually on average, and rape offences by 7%.

However, this could again be attributed in part to greater reporting rates stemming from heightened awareness and better reporting channels.

Importing millions of third world savages has certainly not benefited France, and the targeted burning of churches (but never mosques!) suggests that Muslim immigrants are playing a disproportionate role in the destruction, but French people have always loved a pointless riot.

I cant believe this is still going on . There seems no national will to resist. The French victims seem so far gone it appears they believe that they deserve this humiliation
Meanwhile CBC continues to describe the rioters“ mostly students “ ……..Any of you guys out there wear a black ninja suit and wave an Algerian flag when you were students ?

People on this board often ridicule US laws that permit personal firearms and the right to use them to defend your home. I believe what we see in France and the rest of Europe would not happen with citizenry that have the will and the means to defend themselves.
