if the service is there I don't think that the location is a big deal, at least for me. and like I said some part of ville emard are just as bad as some parts of hochelaga, distance from downtown they are both about the same, to get to pie 9 from downtown its just about 5...10 min from the ville...

pie 9 area is easy to find parking and to get to by metro, if you look closer to viau you might find nicer appartments for rent, also along Ontario street you have lots a old buildings being renovated. I agree with uncle bob that st cath and pie 9 is not a nice area but closer to the pie 9 metro...
