Roy Comments on Duclair Stimulate Story in The Athletic
Duclair asked for some time away from the team, needs to reflect on what is going on. Not a good sign at this moment, Islanders were in the chasing pack.

Makar Becomes 9th NHL Defenseman With a 30 Goal Season, Joining Bobby Orr and Others:
He needs 4 more 30 goal seasons to tie Orr's record. I think Orr also has the record for points in a season by a defenseman (139) and had 6 consecutive 100 point seasons.

41 goals and going, the guy is a machine.
6 games left to score 1 goal! It shouldnt be a problems!
41 goals and 27 assists for 68 points in just 60 games, having missed a bunch of games after having his leg broken earlier this year. He is on a 56 goal pace, had he played 82 games- at the age of 39! Has anyone scored 50 goals or had such a pace at age 39?

It's funny but many of Ovechkin's goals look the same to me. It looks like the Caps offense is often designed to get him the puck in open spaces usually in the faceoff circles or the high slot. He then one-times a slapshot with lightning quick release and tremendous exit velocity, as we would say in baseball. The exit velocity kings in baseball, on battled balls, are Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Shohei Ohtani, who all hit a large number of 115 mph+ HRs. I do not know what the exit velo is measured at on the Ovechkin slapshot, buit the goalies do not react to it in a way that makes you think it's saveable.

The eastern battle is still raging!

Assuming Ottawa has secured their playoffs spot, we still have 5 teams that are fiercely fighting for the last entry spot.

If Detroit and Columbus win today, they both will be tied with the Rangers with 76 games played. All of them 4 points behind Montreal, and the Islanders who beat Washington earlier today, are 5 points behind.

None of these teams can hope for a break with 6 games left to the calender. I wonder how much gaz will be left in the tank of the team that will survive!

As I said before if you look at all the goals he is scoring they are all similar- he camps out in the faceoff circle/high slot and they get him the puck......he gets the shot off very quickly before the defense can react. The Caps are setting him up and as I have been watching these goals they are literally all from the same spots. That particular play almost looked like a give and go in basketball except the guy who is given the puck (Wilson, from Strome), instead of rushing forward, looks cross ice for Ovechkin. It's a set play they are running I think, because I have seen him get the pass from the same spot on some other of his goals in this current heater he is on.

From what I can see as well, Overchkin has the rare ability to collect a pass, and unleash it with tremendous velocity in a millisecond. It is that ability or skill that has gotten him 895 goals. He most likely has tremendously strong wrists and forearms.

Sens beat Columbus today & pretty much guaranteed themselves a playoff spot, possibly facing the Leafs in the opening round if Toronto holds on to win the 2nd seed. As for the Habs i predict they’ll be in the playoffs & face the Capitals if they beat the Preds tonight.
