Bingo. For men, generally speaking, it's not advantageous to partner with a women too high above your own "mate value" (i.e. "out of your league"), exactly for the reasons that your experience reveals.

I really wish I had your advice @urquell when I was young. On a rational level it 100% makes sense. On an emotional/visceral level, though, when one is young and less experienced with relationships, it doesn't always register. Reason vs. passions: the essential human problem.

It really is a taboo topic and I am sure that many men suffer in silence. I am 100% serious when I say this, Another debilitating condition that can develop spontaneously and that is also rarely discussed is Peyronie disease (i.e a curved penis that makes penetration virtually impossible).
