I read that the army did not inform the army incident, court marshal findings, verdict to the civilian authorities, so in
the civilian database he was clean so he could buy any firearm he wanted to.
In any case, no matter what are the laws, so easy to get a gun in the U S one way or another.
But this has taken the "Mother-In-Law" issue to an another level. (Who survived by not attending church that day).
