Yes Souray did well. He probably would have scored even against a goalie who wasn't a sieve.

So...how about those Habs!!:D Sidney who? The team's playing great and I just thought I'd mention it. 4 wins in a row, finally giving the Sabres a good beating. Huet is playing great since that blow out he had. 2 goals for Higgins tonight, Lapierre is showing great promise...3 goals in 4 games, and Koivu is proving that he deserves to be the captain. What more could a Habs fan want? Go Habs go!

yeah lapierre did get sent down but only so he can come back next year as a rookie! He is good and there is no reason why he should be a 4th liner. We'll see if we can keep bonk, if not, he will probably be his successor!

and f*** fedorov: overpaid, old, russian... (although it could have been cool seeing samsonov, kovalev and fedorov together!)

Yes, Lapierre was sent down but that doesn't mean he won't be brought up again if needed in the future. As far as Federov is concerned, I hope he stays far, far away from Montreal. The last thing we need is an overpaid player in the twilight of his career. He can't help this team, and it's not like the Habs need any help right now. I would rather they stay on the pace they are now, building the team with young players, rather than see them bring in over the hill, over rated and overpaid players like Federov.

As far as Lapierre being sent down due to not having to clear waivers...I understand the situation and I congratulate Carbo for sticking by his team, but I feel they should have demoted Downey instead. It's not like anyone would have claimed him on waivers anyways.

Oh, by the way...I don't expect the Habs to win the cup this year, although it wouldn't be impossible, but I do think they will make a lot of noise in the playoffs. It's just fun to have a team that is able to play, and beat, any team in the league on any given day of the week. Makes me feel good for the future of the team. But damn!!, they really have to get those shots against down a bit or Huet will have shell shock by the end of the year!

Sounds like Federov would be a good fit in Toronto :D

Maybe Hitch can light a fire under his ass and motivate him - kind of like what Ted Nolan has done with Yashin (another lazy Russian, just ask Ottawa fans)

Fedorov will be a perfect fit for the Maple Laughs in about 7 or 8 years. Right now he's still too young for them. And who else but the Laughs would want someone who was dumped by both the Red Wings AND Anna Kournikova? (Oh, to have been Sergei a few years ago!)

My 100% correct prediction

The STL Blues will not win the Cup. You can bank it.

5 in a row!
The Habs special units are the best in the leauge.A first in over 2 decades.
The last time they had a descent powerplay was 1986.Hint hint...
At 5 on 5 that Habs are rather average, but don't take penalty against them, they will kill you!
Now bring on the Bruins!

On another note, the Penguins are considering relocalizing.Kansas City and Winnipeg are 2 potential markets.
Why not Quebec city?
Can you imagine the rebirth of Habs vs Quebec rivalry?
Crosby,Malkin,Stall,Fleury,Armstrong vs Kovy,Koivu,Latendresse,Higgins,Huet,Bouillon ect
Carbo vs Therrien?

Dreaming is the best way to travel....:p

Don't forget, they also have the hottest goalie in the league with Huet!

I agree about moving the Penguins to Quebec city. It would be perfect but they have the same problem as Pittsburg, they need a new arena.

Blue line

The Habs are where they are because they have one of the top blue lines in Markov, Souray, Rivet and Bouillon in the league right now--maybe not the equal of the Anaheim Ducks, yet. I have been to a number of games at the Bell this year and seen the Habs just shut down high powered offenses like Buffalo and Pittsburgh. So I'd have to believe that the Habs have what it takes to contend for the Cup this year. I started this thread by making a bold prediction that if the blue line of Markov and Souray performs well and Huet does his thing in goal, the Habs can end up as high as the 4th seed. Checking the latest standings, the Carbo Habs are right on track ;) ! Go Habs!

I've seen most games at the Bell Centre this year. IMHO Markov is the BEST d-man on the Habs. His coolness, outlet passes, and smarts are among the best in the league.
Souray is scoring goals with that booming shot. The guys screening in front of the net jump out of the way, for good reason.
Rivet is slowing down, he cannot make the physical plays, and he has been coughing up the puck regularly this season. Lately he really sucks.
I think the Habs will trade Rivet in order to sign Souray and Markov, both free agents after this year. Boullion is a tougher player than Rivet, much better puck handler, and Dandenault is a better skater and makes fewer mistakes in his zone. Love the way Komisarek continues to improve and pounds the speedier opposing forwards; he has cut down the brain-dead penalties.

Souray

Souray will become an unrestricted FA next year and there has been talk that the Habs will let him go and keep Markov and Rivet who are original Habs. But with Souray playing like an All-Star this year, I think the Habs will be hard pressed to let him walk away next year. That is unless he insists on signing with a team on the West Coast or closer to where his ex and his kid live. I've always liked the guy and I certainly hope he sticks around.

How about them Leafs, eh? The clobbered...and i'm saying CLOBBERED the Boston Bruins tonight by a score of 10-2. They're back!!!!

I wouldn't engrave the Sanley Cup or plan the parade route yet :D - this is more of a case of the Bruins poor play - Boston is in the middle of a slump and their defense played horribly. Toronto is a mediocre team at best, they have a terrible goals against, their top 4 d-men are grossly overpaid (except for Kaberle), Sundin is their only legit first line forward, Raycroft is average and Tucker only gets his goals on the PP standing at the side of the net (and Tucker is also a gutless cheap shot artist) - expect the leafs to miss the playoffs

Raycroft still has a few dozen levels to climb before he reaches average. As for Sundin, he's still good - which is quite impressive for a man of his advanced years.

Here's my biggest NHL prediction for this season and all future ones: you won't ever see a classier player than Steve Yzerman.

Good try by the Habs today, despite battling the flu bug.

The last time the flu bug hit the NY Rangers, they went on a 7-game losing streak. But I don't think that'll happen with Mtl because Carbo won't let it happen and the Habs as a team are more resilient than the NY Rangers who are more or less a bunch of pussies :p !
