I have no interest either way in Burke or Wilson and this ridiculous bitchfest between Habs & Leafs fans, but I firmly believe they both did an amazing job with the building and coaching of the US hockey team. This is a team that wasn't even supposed to be on a podium and they proved to the world that they could hang with the big boys. Great job as far as I'm concerned!!

Actually he's been bitter ever since Jeff Reardon snubbed him when he approached the former Expos pitcher for a autograph.:)

Now that is good, Joe T. You and I have always been on opposite sides of the Reardon issue, but I bear you no grudges because you have a good sense of humor and more imprtantly you have made me a wealthy man with your amazingly consistent sports predictions. My hat goes off to you Sir.

As in you always take the opposite, right?

VANCOUVER — It’s going to be a tough couple of days for Team USA coach Ron Wilson.

First there was the disappointment of losing the gold-medal game to Canada in overtime Sunday evening. And now he has to go back to his regular job, coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I try to play that way — not very successfully right now with our (team) in Toronto.”

At which point a roomful of journalist began laughing.

Great quote Doc: very accurate and VERY funny, with everone making Ron their personal laughingstock.

Hello all,

Yes, but we probably didn't drank the same amount of beer!!!!!!

Merlot is right, my comment (as usual) is sarcastic. Bravo! At least there's somebody that can read between the lines.

Well, I wasn't sure, but I figured that given the obvious circumstances. Just on the surface, I got a laugh either way. Consider the rest of the post directed at those who aren't joking.

This is a team that wasn't even supposed to be on a podium and they proved to the world that they could hang with the big boys. Great job as far as I'm concerned!!

It was watching team U.S.A. go through the medals ceremony without much time to absorb the loss. They quite understandably couldn't smile for the silver medal so close in minutes from the last goal. They did themselves very proud in these games and we are all very proud of them. But I was thinking about how terrible it would have been for the Canadians to face the same scenario with an international television audience, with a stadium full of Canadians, all of Canada watching and having to take silver medals then stand there and listen to the Star Spangled Banner. Even as an American it feels like an epic horror show. Those who talked about the outcome of the game here are relatively happy for the Canadians victory on home ice.

... Joe T....you have made me a wealthy man with your amazingly consistent sports predictions. My hat goes off to you Sir.

Yup, he's the Polaris of betting, a perfectly consistent marker to direct yourself from. Just do the opposite and it's money in the bank.

I plead the Fifth - I refuse to kill the Golden Goose. (Joe T, you da MAN!).

I understand Polaris shifts along it's maximum range every 15,000 years. Don't worry. If Jt lived a million years there would still be perfect consistency...lol.

Hey, three people voted for Canada after the game was over. If you three prophets are still taking bets on Canada v U.S.A. I want in...lol.

Cheers boys and girls,

Merlot

I'm glad you found it funny. I was worried you'd be upset that i instead hadn't quoted your favorite Olympian of all, Johnny Weir. LOL!!!!!

Pardon my lack of knowledge about Johnny Weir Doc but I have no idea who Johnny Weir is, although I'm guessing he might be one of those figure skaters you and your devoted follower lggy like to watch while you're "hanging out" on the couch at the Holliday house.

Wilson surprised by Canada's treatment of Brodeur

“Puck hits the referee’s skate – no one’s mentioned that – and that ended up causing kind of a kerfuffle that happened in the corner and they took advantage of it.”

“The biggest surprise to me is how everybody threw Marty Brodeur, the greatest goalie in the history of the game, under the bus and backed over him, and forward, backward, forward, backward.

We would have won no matter which of our three goalies were in nets. I didn't see any bad treatment of Brodeur. He lost against the US, so they went to Luongo and he won the games that he had to win. No big deal. Brodeur got his medal just like the rest of the team.
