Suzyn Waldman knows less about baseball than even Joe.T, if such is possible. Jose Reyes is power? Rajai Davis is power? Mark Buehrle is power. RA Dickey is power? Josh Johnson is power?

The Jays brought in one of the best all round players in the game and he got hurt. They brought in three quality starting pitchers and none has pitched particularly well. Suzyn Waldman is a dope.

Burhrle, Dickey and Johnson are pitchers rumps. I think EB was referring to their batting power, like Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, J.P. Arencibia, and maybe Melky Cabrera, who is more of an average hitter, like Jose Reyes.

I sort of disagree with Suzy Waldman. The Blue Jays have a good balanced offensive lineup. They have gotten off to a very poor start. If you look at the St. Louis and San Francisco World Series winning teams the last few years, these teams did not have great regular seasons. They won just enough games and went on to win the World Series. I am not saying the Blue Jays will even be competitive this year, but they have the nucleus to win if not this year, next year. I don't think you can take Toronto for granted. The season is just over a 1/4 played. You can't declare them dead yet.

She was talking about their development of in-organization offensive talent, not the offseason signings and moves they made.

Suzy Waldman knows more about baseball than rumps of VT. And leave Joe T. out of your insults, you cantankerous old man.
Have you considered anger management classes? Have you considered calling an end to your endless insults? Have you considered ignoring me?

Well, considering that they didn't develop Encarnacion, Bautista, or Lawrie, maybe she should have talked about their inability to develop anything. There's a pretty long list of "top prospects" who have come through the Jays organization in recent years who never made it. Really, beyond Arencibia, who has made it?

Anger management? Haha. You are warped. I am not angry. Because I disagree with you or call you out on the things you are wrong about, in your eyes, or call you on your insults, I am angry. How narcissistic.

You are the angry old man, not me, and you insult more posters on here than anyone I've seen. No, I won't ignore you, buddy, since you are the one who starts the crap around here. And you surely don't ignore me.

Wow!!!! After reading the last two post by the Beav and DD, one can only assume that merb is conducting a contest for the best lame rationalization of the night. What's the prize?

What exquisite bullshit. Good work boys!

I believe referring to someone as a "cantankerous old man" to be an insult DD!!

I hope M8 doesn't see this!!

Really, K? I am sick of your and your buddies' threats. Look above. Can't you see mild mannered rumps calling what Beav and I write bullshit?

How come you are so blind to his crap?

Yes, he is a cantankerous old man. He's always stirring crap here and yelling foul, while insulting every chance he gets.

If you really want civility here, then be honest and call it the way it really is.

I am sick of guys like you K, who sit on the sidelines and call foul on guys like me who only fight back, while guys like rump initiate everything.

You're completely out of line DD, now stop insulting everyone and keep it civil like we all do!! You're a bad example of good sportsmanship, sir!! Get a grip on yourself. If you're sick of me, ignore is an option but don't think I'm not going to call you out on your snide backhanded insults!!

Really? How about your pal rumps? Get lost, K. I am sick of your double standards. It's just like the political threads. Everyone was ganging up on me, and anytime I defended myself, I would get the same attitude.

I knew you would ignore the insult I had quoted from rumps.

No, K, you are out of line.

What insult from Rumps, he's calling it as he sees it and he's 100% dead on, as usual. Beav does spin exquisite bullshit!! If I ever get in a jam I'm calling him to defend me. Lol. As for the political threads you were obviously way out of line in those as well and it showed.

Now go to bed DD41, it's way past your bed time.

There's a huge difference between calling what someone says bullshit and insulting the person who says it. Calling someone a "cantankerous old man" doesn't address the subject, it insults the person.

call foul on guys like me who only fight back.
As long as you continue to fight back by calling names, rather than addressing the issues at hand, we will continue to call you out.

It's just like the political threads. Everyone was ganging up on me...
Poor baby.

Another MVP for Pedroia? I've been thinking about the phenomenal year the Pedey's been having, so I thought I'd take a peek under the numbers. According to Baseball-Reference, Pedroia is fifth in the AL in WAR through the first quarter of the season, behind Clay Buchholz, Felix Hernandez, Chris Sale and Manny Machado. While Pedey does have a .341/.433/.425/.858 slash line, what really separates him from other second basemen in the AL has been his stunning work with the glove.

Quite a crop of second baseman in the AL, with four in the top 10 in the position players list. Pedroia at 2.5, Jose Altuve and Ian Kinsler at 1.9, and Robinson Cano at 1.7.

Really, rumps? Read the quote. You say we are having a contest for the best lame rationalization of the night. Like that is not an insult.

And lame and bullshit according to who? You? Anyone who disagrees with you according to you spews bullshit. Yeah, coming from you or anyone, telling someone they what they say is lame and bullshit is insulting.

Whether one likes what was written he's made a few good statistical posts lately. If he keeps doing that it would help to forget that angry political persona that turned dozens against him in those threads.

Have you considered anger management classes? Have you considered calling an end to your endless insults? Have you considered ignoring me?

And what is the meaning of cantankerous? Angry. How many countless times have you hurled that word at me. No, you are busted. When you do the insulting, it's fine and dandy. When I do it, K, you and Merlot come in and make it a Federal crime.

There's a huge difference between calling what someone says bullshit and insulting the person who says it. Calling someone a "cantankerous old man" doesn't address the subject, it insults the person.

Haha, you call me on it? Look at yourself first, rumps.

Dream about what? I just want the Jays to knock the red sox out by seasons end. Have you checked the standings? You (red sox fans) had the Yanks written off by now, yet here we are in first place on Victoria Day, with half the team on the DL...... thats reality my friend,....... :thumb:

Hahahaha...any organization stupid enough to rehire John Gibbons is not going anywhere Iggy. But its good that you can still dream.

Key words here Iggy are "on Victoria Day" When do you think the season ends? There's more than enough time to watch the crumbling of the Yankee season to come. Mark my words on this date! Yanks will NOT get to the playoffs.

That's a bold prediction. I think it's going to be a tight pennant race for the AL East title. Logic would tell you not to make such a bold statement about the NY Yankees. The Yankees have an amazing record so far having had so many injuries this season. They can only get stronger when their injured players come off the DL and back to the field.

I don't know DD. I really don't think a healthy Jeter is going to help the team, at least defensively. Tex might not be back this season, ARod, well, it's ARod. I don't see any help for them on the horizon. Lucky for them their pitching has been pretty stellar so far.

How about those Indians

The Cleveland Indians, 25-17, are in first place, 2 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers. Detroit and Cleveland are playing a 3 game series starting Tuesday night at Cleveland. Mark Reynolds, Nick Swisher, and Mike Aviles have been productive acquisitions for Cleveland. Mark Brantley and Carlos Santana are Cleveland veterans who have had a very good season so far.

Zach McAllister, 3-3, 2.65 ERA and Justin Masterson, 7-2, 2.83 are the Indian's young aces.

Terry Francona has done a very good job with this young team so far. I think they could sustain their winning start so far and possibly clinch a wild card. The Indians, after a 4-10 start of the season, are 21-7 from that dismal beginning.

Cano and Wells have been playing very well so far. Granderson is just getting back. He should be settling in soon. So that would be 3 HR hitters in the lineup.

I agree Teixeira is a question mark. If he does return, he would contribute. Jeter is on his last year as an option, and his condition is unknown. The Yankees have to serious think about his relationship with their club. Arod, the sooner he leaves the Yankees the better. I am not optimistic about his second coming, but you never know.

As for the other players, I was thinking more of:
Francisco Cervelli - who I have been impressed by his hustle and clutch hitting
Eduardo Nunez - who could improve in defense, but he has great potential in improving his hitting
Kevin Youkilis - who is a seasoned veteran and does deliver in key hits

I have been impressed by David Adams, who played 3rd base in 4 games.

Actually, K, Teixeira, coming off the kind of injury he's had and considering his decline year-over-year for the past five years, is likely to be a downgrade from Overbay v.2013. How much more magic dust Overbay and Wells have in them is unknown.

Jeter is done. When you consider that he's been a historically bad defender, coming off two broken ankles at the age of 39, the Yankees putting him at shortstop is a Yankee hater's wet-dream.

Hafner's been a real good pickup and is a real good hitter, but he's already started his annual breakdown. Youkilis gave them a couple of good weeks before he gave out. The ancient Pettitte is now on his third back injury of the year, this one landing him on the genuine imitation not-real disabled list.

They're not getting better at catcher, they're not getting better at SS, they might improve at 3b. Their pitching is only going to get weaker without Pettitte and his repeated back problems.

What we've seen so far in 2013 is the best the Yankees are going to give.

Ah, Cervelli, a professional for nine years, all of which he's sucked utterly at both the minor and major league levels, has two good weeks and gets hurt. A terribly sad story.
Ah, Nunez, he does have great potential for improving his hitting, since it can't get much worse. Considering that he's 26 years old and has a career .689 OPS in the minors, one can hardly expect him to produce at the major league level.
Ah, Youkilis, a once very good player, and still better than replacement level for those two week stretches every couple of months that he can remain healthy.
