Me thinks cam took one to many shots to the noggin
By the way, that Boston writer stated yesterday that Cam Neely was the one who had given up on Seguin & insisted he be traded away because he felt he was 'unworthy of being a Bruin'.

He's been a disaster as the team's president. No education, no experience. Peter Chiarelli has been quite good, though, i must admit. I also believe that Claude Julien is one heck of an NHL coach and i'd sign him the day he becomes available.

Hmmm...Let's see...Buins....Playoffs every year, Stanley Cup Champion in 2011, Stanley cup finals in 2013, President's trophy 2014, Leafs....haven't sniffed the cup since '67, barely made the playoffs once in the past...how many years? me thinks the Leafs should mold their shitty organization after Neely & Chiarelli! ;)

Oh, i never said that the Leafs haven't sucked also. I also have my doubts about Shanahan's competence to be the team's president. I also have praised some of Peter Chiarelli's moves & even more so if he was under orders to trade the great Tyler Seguin. I also have high praises for coach Claude Julien (and not because he grew up with my uncle). But Cam Neely nearly fired Claude Julien at least twice...in other words, Julien was one goal away from being fired on at least two occasions. Neely is a hot-head & unqualified for the job. The son's owner will make a mistake if he also fires Chiarelli and Julien in the process.

Plus, had the now borderline-insane wingnut Tim Thomas not suddenly become the best goalie on the planet a few years ago, the Bruins wouldn't have stood a chance to win the Cup. But that's the nature of playoffs hockey. The team with the very hot goalie usually wins in the end.

BOYZZZ!!!

However, despite all of this, i still say that Boston would not be in this position today should they have hung on to Phil Kessel or Tyler Seguin. They got swindled in that Seguin trade with Dallas and it may take years for them to recover from that tremendous mistake.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

Now you've gone into self-pity mode. The Leafs have stuck themselves in a rut so the Bruins must have too, huh? Just because you're depressed about the state of the Leafs lack of real advancement, you need to feel the Bruins are coming down to your level. This so-called "swindle" has left the Leafs where??? Treading above their heads in mediocrity and yet the Bruins are still better today according to the standings. Didn't Kessel own Coach/Manager just question his character. :thumb:

Laughable. You'd give your favorite nut, maybe both of them, to be such a disaster that has WON THE STANLEY CUP since men walked on the moon. Damn! It's really been that long. :noidea: WTF!

You've made some fine points up until the last two posts Doc. Now you're just looking jealous. Even you're bro mr. Burke's a genius is seeing the futility.

GoLeafsGo,

Easy, Merloo, easy my friend....easy!

No need to get all excited ,calm down. ;)

I've thrown praise at Peter Chiarelli & Claude Julien. I simply said that Cam Neely has to go & he has been a bad influence on the Bruins.

The Bruins have had an awful season from all accounts (other than a couple of average Bruins fans on this board, i gather). They are barely ahead of the Leafs in the standings & up to now were trailing them all season long. Much better things were expected of them. As for the Leafs, they've actually played better than most people expected. They are now 30-1 favorites to win the Cup. At the start of the season, the odds were 50-1.

What's amazing is that until the Bruins had their big year a few years ago, Bruins fans on this board were nowhere to be found. How come? I have a theory. Most of the so-called 'Bruins fans' on this board aren't really true hockey fans. They only became hockey fans when the Bruins finally started winning again. And to be honest, i still haven't found any of these 'Bruins fans' whom i can have a decent 'hockey' conversation with.

Leafs: 13 Cups
Bruins: 6 Cups

The Bruins will be fine by the end of the season. Not as loaded as in years past, but Boston still has a strong core. Chara needs some time to fully recover from his injuries and get his timing back. I think the sports writers are overreacting in judging him over the hill. I wouldn't write off such a great defenseman just yet. The guy will still be a monster come playoff time. And when on, Rask can stand on his head with the best of 'em.

Leafs: 13 Cups

I got all that Doc, but when you guys start implying the Bruins have been swindled or Neely has been a disaster you have to deal with that Stanley Cup impediment that makes your statement look bad. The Bruins had dumped Kessel by then.

Leafs: 13 Cups
Bruins: 6 Cups

Bravo! How many in your lifetime? Weren't you still thinking girls were icky when they got the last one. I bet you never thought they'd be worth $200/hour. :D

When your team hasn't won anything or been able to spell Stanley Cup for going on 48 years you need consolation statements like the above to talk you down from the ledges. SPPLLLAAAT!!! :eyebrows:

So, basically, since the league expanded beyond the Original 6, Toronto has won all of ZERO Stanley Cups. :p

Well, to be fair, you have to make it to the finals to win the Cup and the Leafs have never even made it to the finals since 1967.

Also, to be fair, you have to win four playoff rounds in one year to win the Cup and the Leafs have never, EVER won more than two playoff rounds in one year.

And people say I never defend the Leafs - surely this post puts the lie to that statement ! (;))

You can put anything under a microscope and micro-analyze everything if you want.

But the bottom line is that the Leafs have won more Cups than the Bruins (who were my favorite team back in the 70's, by the way) and today, both teams suck big time. The Leafs may have an advantage in that they are a fairly young team, where the Bruins' core players are getting up there in age.

By the way, let me make one bold prediction:

Milan Lucic will not be a member of the Boston Bruins come next summer. He may even be traded this season, but i'm 50/50 on that one. However, the Bruins will definitely unload his punk ass by next summer.

You can bank on this and i would recommend that you print this post and hang it up on your wall. :D

I see he has been watching Marchand and Subban lol

Nyquist, Marchand & Subban are among today's best known 'divers' around the NHL. But they are no match for the king of all divers, former Philadelphia Flyer Bill "The Diver" Barber. He could have been in the Olympics!

Whats the new rule on diving anyways? Something about a suspension and a fine after so many times being guilty in a season?

Look up Rule 64 in regards to diving/embellishment. The penalty becomes more severe for repeat offenders & the coach will also wind up being fined:

Rule 64 re: Diving/Embellishment

p.s. Me thinks coaches Babcock & Therrien won't put up with Gus & PK's antics much longer if it means they'll get fined also for their players' theatrics.

Congrats to Phil and Tyler!!!!

What about Dougie Hamilton? What about Jared Knight?

Patrice Bergeron was the only Bruin named to the all-star team. I thought maybe Tukka Rask might have had a chance, but i suppose his sub-par performances against the habs kind of killed his chances to be named. Plus the fact that it may appear to the ones making the selections that he may be one of the guilty parties in the Bruins' sub-par season so far.

As for the Red Wings, only Jimmy Howard got the call to attend the all-star game. However, he may not be able to attend since he was stretchered off the ice earlier tonight with a severe groin injury. My sources told me tonight that it's likely that Marc-Andre Fleury may be picked as his replacement for the all-star game.

By the way, only Carey Price was chosen for the habs. No $9 million/year defenceman, no Max Pacioretty, etc. Only Carey Price, whom by the way played great tonight....but they still lost.
