Yankees are 4th in MLB in attendance despite bad weather much of this month so I have no idea what you are talking about:

http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance

The 3 teams ahead of the Yankees do not have the weather issues of the northeast. In case you did not know the weather in NYC sucks tonight as it has most of this month.

All prepaid tickets & no-shows. Every time i watch a game at Yankee Stadium, the stadium is always half-empty, rain or shine.

p.s. Early exit by Cheeseburger-Cheeseburger Sabathia tonight. He barely lasted 5 innings and gave up 4 earned runs. He threw 98 pitches. He's a heart attack waiting-to-happen and he sucks!

BOYZZZ!!!

Daydreamer...then you are dumber than I thought.

You come across as being quite arrogant.

I bring this here to remind you two that you are Yankee fan blood brothers. It saddens me deeply to see such familiar harsh words going back and forth between bosom buddies. Guys, Yankeedom weeps over these hateful exchanges between soul mates. I feel your pain. Bring back the luv with a hug. Time to kiss and make up. :thumb:

IN THE MEANTIME:

Red Sox starting pitching has been getting very tough. First Buchholz has been improving and had a solid game the last time. Now John Lester. Lester has been very tough most of the year, but today he out did himself with 15 strike outs in a totally dominating performance giving up only 1 hit. All of this was against an Oakland team with the most wins in the American League. Some of the Sox hitters are also finding more POP in their bats lately, with a Grand Slam by Pedroia yesterday and another Grand Slam by Gomes today. The signs are growing more and more positive.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...15-gomes-hits-slam-as-red-sox-top-as/8662921/

BOSTON (AP) — Jon Lester didn't feel very good warming up before the game. He couldn't have done much better once it started.

The lefty struck out a career-high 15, allowing one hit over eight scoreless innings and pitching the Boston Red Sox over the Oakland Athletics 6-3 on Saturday.

"It's probably the worst cutter I've thrown in a bullpen in a long time, but I don't take much stock in my bullpens anymore," Lester said. "You're down there to get loose. I think the biggest thing for me is just getting on the mound and getting that adrenaline going."

BOX SCORE: Red Sox 6, A's 3

He faced 26 batters and just nine hit the ball in fair territory. The only A's to reach base against him were Craig Gentry on a leadoff single in the third and Derek Norris on walks to start the fifth and eighth.

"Just the combination of power and command was impressive," Boston manager John Farrell said. "He was locked in seemingly from the first pitch."

Lester (3-4) got plenty of support on a grand slam by Jonny Gomes and solo homers by David Ortiz and David Ross in Boston's second straight win after losing a day-night doubleheader to Tampa Bay on Thursday.

But Oakland scored three runs off Chris Capuano in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate before Koji Uehara struck out Alberto Callaspo and retired Brandon Moss on a fly to right, securing his seventh save in seven opportunities.

"I knew we had it the whole way," Lester said. "We've got the best closer in baseball out there."

The only hit off Lester was Gentry's bloop single in the third over the head of second baseman Dustin Pedroia.

"That's the best performance I've seen him have," Oakland's Nick Punto said.

Lester rebounded from taking the loss in his previous two games by striking out nine of his first 13 batters. His previous strikeout best was 13 on July 24, 2010, in a 5-1 loss at Seattle.

"He looked pretty cozy out there," Gomes said.

Lester, who threw a no-hitter on May 19, 2008 against Kansas City, struck out every hitter in the Oakland lineup, fanning Josh Reddick three times and Punto, Callaspo, Coco Crisp and Josh Donaldson twice each.

Gomes hit the fifth slam of his career one day after Pedroia hit one. Tommy Milone (0-3) allowed Gomes' homer after Pedroia walked, Xander Bogaerts singled and Ortiz walked.

"It always seems that every time you walk somebody they have a tendency of scoring," Milone said, "so it just took that one big hit from Gomes to set the tone."

Milone struck out the next four batters but ran into trouble again in the third when Ortiz led off with his sixth homer of the year. Ross started the fourth with his third homer.

Lester threw 119 pitches before being replaced by Capuano to start the ninth. In his previous two starts, Lester threw 118 pitches in a 7-2 loss to the New York Yankees on April 22 and 122 in a 4-1 loss at Toronto last Sunday.

Punto started the ninth with a double and took third on a single by Crisp. Both scored when Jed Lowrie doubled and left fielder Gomes threw wildly to the plate for an error. After Donaldson was hit by a pitch, Uehara walked Yoenis Cespedes.

Norris hit into a forceout at home, but catcher Ross' throw to first went wild, allowing a run to score before Uehara ended the threat.

"It's easy to just cash it in after you've struck out 15 times in eight innings and hadn't had too many good swings and you're frustrated," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said, "and then to get those kind of at-bats in the ninth inning, it's good."

NOTES: Capuano hadn't allowed a run in his other 12 outings this season. ... Pedroia has reached base 35 times in his last 17 games. ... The Athletics have scored no runs while Milone was in the game in his three losses. ... Sonny Gray (4-1) pitches for Oakland in the finale of the three-game series against John Lackey (4-2) on Sunday. ... The crowd cheered each time a Red Sox worker walked along the left-field warning track to change the number next to the Bruins name on the scoreboard after each of their last three goals in Game 2 of their playoff series against Montreal. Boston was trailing 3-2 in the third period then scored three goals in the last six minutes to win 5-3 and even the series at 1.

Sabathia has lost a lot of weight. I have no idea what you mean by Cheeseburger-Cheeseburger. Are you sure you were watching the Yankees play?

I just love that nickname, that's all. Yes, he's lost quite a bit of weight. I think it's affected his pitching & stamina.

Pee-wee Herman isn't a small man, yet his nickname is Pee-wee. Same with Tiny Tim.

Cheeseburger-Cheesburger is getting clobbered once again today by the Rays.

Yes, the weight loss has not helped. He's not pitching like an ace of a staff should pitch. Guess the pitching coach needs to evaluate his current pitching mechanics and have CC (oh I get the nickname) adjust?

Well, he'll be 34 years old in July. He's not exactly a young pup and he's been in the majors for 14 years. Lots of mileage on that body. His best season occurred 5 years ago. Even though he's lost weight, he still weighs 285 lbs. People who weigh that much don't live very long, healthy lives. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a diabetic, which may be the reason why he finally decided to lose weight. But quite often, it's too late & the damage has already been done.

He's a pitcher whose best days are behind him. But he's still an effective pitcher once in a while. The bad news is that he's signed to a big contract through 2016. Giving such a long-term contract to someone his size was not exactly very bright.

The Yankees are coming back to earth. Cheeseburger-Cheeseburger barely lasted 3 innings and allowed 5 runs on 10 hits. Girardi felt sorry for him & took him out even before he had reached 80 pitches. Good thing this team has Tanaka. Kuroda has sucked all season long & finally showing his age. I mean...he's old!!!

Actually, to be fair to him, he fits right in with this team of geriatrics of days gone by. This team would be at the bottom of the standings if it wasn't for Jacoby Ellsbury, an injury-prone centerfielder with no power who was signed to a ridiculous contract. Brian McCann has been a huge disappointment and if doesn't have a good season, this may just be the year where Hank Steinbrenner fires Brian Cashman. Only Joe Girardi's managing skills (and a lot of luck) has saved Cashman's job over the past 2 seasons.

Here's my current take on the Yankees:

McCann: Big disappointment. Extremely expensive. Doubt he can catch every day.
Texeira: Worn down & injury-prone.
Roberts: Done as a major leaguer.
Jeter: He's a shadow of his ol' self & should have retired a year ago.
Solarte: A project & he's slowed down recently.
Johnson: A strikeout king. Nothing but an average utility player.
Suzuki: Old. An outfielder who is a singles hitter. Big waste of money if you ask me.
Ellsbury: Great player when healthy. Very fast, good base stealer. Good hitter. But extremely expensive.
Beltran: He's old. On most teams, he'd be a 4th outfielder because of his age & is a shadow of his ol' self.
Soriano: He's old. His best days are also behind him. Can't play the outfield anymore. Another overpaid, barely productive Yankee.
Gardner: Good player. Good speed. A poor man's Jacoby Ellsbury.
Sabathia: Old. Lots of mileage. Appears worn down. A shadow of his ol' self. Quite a big shadow, i may add. Very expensive & Yankees are stuck with him into 2016.
Kuroda: Old. He's 39 years old & it wouldn't surprise me if he was actually older. The time has come for him to go back to Japan.
Tanaka: Has become the ace of the staff at such a short time. Has lots of mileage on that pitching arm from pitching in Japan all these years. Not sure he can remain healthy all season long. Extremely expensive.
Pineda: Also question marks if he can remain healthy throughout a season. Shown he has trouble being effective unless he covers his hand with pine tar when he pitches. May not be the sharpest fellow on the team.
Phelps: Who?
Robertson: Was great as a set-up man. Not sure he has the tools required to be an effective closer. The jury is still out on him.
Girardi: I don't think he gets enough credit as far as his managerial skills go. He had this team playing over its head last season. Same thing this season for the first month or so. I credit him with saving the GM's job.
Cashman: An opportunistic GM who's very fortunate to have the Yankee payroll to outbid everyone else. He's also lucky to have a good manager managing his team. He should look at himself in the mirror every day and realize how fortunate he is.

I'll say it again: This team will finish last in the AL East.

What should the GM do at the trade deadline?

Make every single player available except for Ellsbury and Tanaka.

Chances of this happening? None. Cashman is too afraid to lose his job & will never commit to a rebuild for this reason alone.

BOYZ,

So how are the pinstriped boys today? It looks like they took my pep talk to heart and made up. Ahhhhhhhhh SWEET! Remember Yankees Fans all you need is..........

GODOCGO!!! Cheeseburger Cheeseburger Sabathia may have shrunk a bit, but his stats have BALOONED. In 7 decisions he's 3-4 with a laughable 5.75 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. Today was a disaster, again, as he couldn't make it out of the 4th inning before giving up 5 runs. He's not even good enough to be a decent number 5. Add in the $24.3 million price tag and Lynyrd Skynyrd was right. Ooooooooooo oooooooooohhhh THAT SMELL!

The Yanks are doomed to be stuck with CC's contract so he could end up being the world's most expensive peanut vendor through 2017. The only problem is he's never be able to throw the bags to the right customer.

The word is even pinstriped Kool-Aid drinking super blind fanboy Joe.t is considering putting Sabathia's Cy Young on hold.

BTW: I miss Beav's bragging. ;)

OUCH!

Here's a very interesting stat I came across.

Games played OUTSIDE the AL EAST. [FONT=Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif]The Sox have played Oakland, Texas, Milwaukee and the White Sox, teams 16 games over .500. The Yanks have played the Cubs, Astros, Mariners, and Angels, teams 17 games under .500.

What does that tell ya? ;)

He's got nothing to brag about these days & i believe he's starting to realize what everyone has been saying all along: the NY Yankees are old, worn down & are going nowhere this season. However, i don't believe he realizes how foolish it was to spend that kind of money on Ellsbury, McCann & Tanaka when this team isn't going anywhere & should be in rebulid mode. I also do not believe he has realized that the Yankees should have re-signed Robinson Cano & make him a lifetime Yankee....Jeter's heir.

I suppose you are joking about using this forum for betting. That would be against the rules. In any case, anyone considering betting with Joe should know that he was banned from merb for two weeks for boasting about welching on a bet.

As for the Yankees, I remember when, only a few years ago, they were often 2.5-1 favorites at home and also almost always favored on the road. Tonight, for instance, they are 1.5 dogs against a mediocre team and pitcher. It seems that the people who make a living evaluating teams aren't very impressed with them.

Other than Tanaka & Ellsbury, there isn't anything left to be impressed about.

On second thought, i'm actually very impressed that they have so many old players who can still find employment in MLB & still get $millions in salary, which is absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

I'm also impressed that Joe Girardi can still pull a rabbit out of his ass once in a while & win a ballgame when Tanaka isn't pitching.
