Hamilton is on pole for tomorrow's race, followed by Kimi and Vettel .
Bottas crashed in Q3...

Haas did great in qualifying, and so did the Red Bulls
Force India didn't do as well...hoping the Renault and Mclaren teams do better than last year !!

Parity is the key to a great season, and I seem to think that every year :deadhorse:

I do think the " Halo " idea is a great move to improve safety : https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/...t--how-the-teams-are-developing-the-halo.html

I'm a big Ferrari fan (especially Vettel) but i'm worried about Verstappen during the start of tonight's race. He's usually over-aggressive (so is Vettel) during the starts and i'm hoping either one of them doesn't cause an accident right at the start of the race.

Nice seeing Stroll qualify for the second run late in the first run's qualifications. But it already seems likes it's going to be a battle between Mercedes and Ferrari, with Red Bull close behind. I have a feeling that Force India won't be as strong this season and may even be surpassed by Williams. I'm still unsure about how McLaren will fare.

There may be wet conditions for tonight's race, which would make it even more exciting. Can't wait for the race!!! :thumb:

Well Doc Cosby..you got your wish

Heartbreak for Haas, as there seemed to be a problem with the airgun that fits the wheelnut on

And a great showing by Fernando , coming home in 5th with Renault power !

Well after watching the race i've concluded that there is considerably more parity than last season but it'll likely be a two-team race once again between Mercedes and Ferrari. But after those two teams it's up for grabs between the likes of Red Bull, Haas-Ferrari, McLaren & maybe even Renault.

I thought Wiliams would do better but they lack experienced drivers. Now i'm starting to think that maybe they should have hired Robert Kubica instead of Sergei Sirotkin. Sirotkin was the first driver to leave the race due to a mechanical breakdown. We'll see what happens in the next races.

I was very surprised that Valteri Bottas didn't do better than he did. Sure he finished in the top 10 but he simply wasn't able to find the power & opportunity to pass the drivers ahead of him, including the likes of Verstappen and Alonso. It was great seeing Alonso finish in 5th position with his McLaren. That's great for the sport. I love the look of the McLaren, by the way. Beautiful-looking car. Same thing with the Ferraris' look this year....all red.

Haas-Ferrari was doing great until bad luck hit them in consecutive pit stops by Magnuson and Grosjean. At first i thought one of the wheel men had fucked up but it seems like the problem was with one or two of the air guns. Had they not encountered the bad luck they very well could have finished in 4th and 5th. But the team's bad luck was Ferrari and McLaren's good luck. Grosjean's problem led to safety car being deployed which allowed Alonso & Vettel to gain positions. Vettel had been just ahead of Hamilton after Hamilton had pitted earlier and shockingly he came out ahead of Hamilton after pitting while the safety car had been deployed. This shocked the hell out of Hamilton, which i enjoyed tremendously!!

I expected a better race from Verstappen, Bottas and Stroll. Verstappen's mistakes killed his chances of finishing in the top 3 and for whatever reason Bottas wasn't able to pass the top 7 racers. Maybe the course is too difficult for passing, who knows. It seems like it's a course where success will depend mostly on successful pit stop strategies and luck.

As for Stroll he did finish the race but just behind some rookie racer named Charlie Leclerc (Sauber) in his first-ever F1 race. That shouldn't have happened.

IMHO, Charles LeClerc earned his seat in F1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Leclerc_(racing_driver)

Lance Stroll bought his ( No problem, as it's been the way in for years )
Remember Satoru Nakajima ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satoru_Nakajima

Lotus wanted the Honda engine, and Honda insisted that Nakajima had to be part of the deal

It was an enjoying race to watch & i was ecstatic at seeing Hamilton finish no better than third. He looked depressed as hell after the race and barely said a word to either Bottas or Vettel. He doesn't look like much of a good sport if you ask me. What a dick!

I love the fact there's more parity this season. Great seeing Toro Rosso finish 4th and the team going nuts after the race!

Red Bull seems to implode so far. Both cars were knocked out of the race very early on. McLaren finally looks competitive. Surprising that Force India hasn't done better. Haas doing better than i anticipated and Renault is competitve, which is good for racing. Heck even Sauber seems to be better than Williams, which has been a huge disappointment so far. The problem seems to be the cars more than the racers.

Raikonen was having a great race until the mishap in the pits. There's no way he personally could have avoided the accident. Fault likely lies on the person in charge of warning the driver that it's okay to leave the pits. The left rear wheel wasn't able to be replaced due to a mechanical problem and it led to that person to believe the wheel had already been replaced and it was time to exit the pits.

He's always been this way

Another driver who kind of strikes me as being a douche is Fernando Alonso. And i'm not going to lie: my favorite driver Sebastian Vettel also falls into this category.

Valteri Bottas seems like a great guy. Same with Daniel Ricciardo and many of the younger drivers such as Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly and many others. Former drivers Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg, Reubens Barrichelo & David Coultard also seemed like great guys. Jacques Villeneuve?? Another a-hole if you ask me.

On another note, Senna was a rain master..there were none better

Yes, Senna was probably the greatest driver in the rain, certainly of his era and maybe of all time.

But another driver of more recent times, Jenson Button, was also one of the greatest drivers in the rain. I saw him win the rain-drenched 2011 Montreal race.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6Iaz1-8VC0

The race started in the pouring rain and was red-flagged after about 25 soaking wet laps. The rain continued for a long time and I considered leaving. But the rain finally let up and the race resumed.

After the restart Button dropped to dead last position. Then he started an incredible comeback on the semi-flooded track. As the track gradually dried, Button switched from wet tires to intermediates to dry tires at just the right moments and he steadily climbed back through the field. It would have been a fantastic drive just to make it on the podium in third or even second.

But Button caught up to the leader Vettel in the Red Bull on the last lap and forced him to make an error. Button flew past Vettel and won the race. It stands as one of the greatest wet weather drives of all time. Of the 13 Montreal GPs that I have attended, the 2011 race was probably the most memorable.

A walk in the park for Vettel in Montréal....une ballade....n'a jamais été menacé.......il devance Hamilton par un point au Championnat.

The Canadian GP is most of the times boring.....change the track if you want drama. Even Monaco has become boring!

Whoever has the poll position in MTL and Monaco has a huge advantage!

Nice to see Ferrari back on top in MTL.
