27 goals allowed......up until this shutout, in the 1st 7 games. Only winless San Jose has allowed more in the Pacific. Shockingly Colorado, with 32 goals allowed in 8 games, have been equally bad with SJ.

Pittsburgh has allowed 39 goals, most in the NHL, so I wouldn't be doing the King Kong chest thumping because Edmonton scored 4 goals on them.

These are not championship defensive teams.

Many believe the Habs should have picked him instead of Reinbacher. But they were scared away because of reports of his bad attitude among teammates & rumors that his late father had ties to the Russian mob which is why he was assassinated. Maybe they were right in staying away, who knows. Time will tell. Sometimes i wonder if he’d be a Hab had they never had to deal with the likes of Alex Galchenyuk & the Kostitsyn brothers in the past. Maybe with a veteran Russian player or two in the lineup to mentor him things would be different & they would have picked him.

Stolarz & Swayman were brilliant in the net for the Leafs & Bruins. But tough game for most of the Leafs other than Matthews & Marner. Marchand is struggling badly for the Bruins. He looks his age. Leafs tied it late & nearly scored late in regulation. They dominated in the OT & lost because of a really bad giveaway by Matthews which was likely caused by fatigue. But the bottom line is that the Leafs powerplay has been struggling badly all season & that was the difference in the game. I suppose Guy Boucher wasn’t so bad after all & maybe he should have been retained. But from what i heard he only wanted to return if it was for the head coaching job & he wasn’t even granted an interview. I’m actually surprised that their powerplay under Marc Savard has struggled so much. He arrived with a very strong resume. But…the is still very young & they’ve yet to play ten games.

Thats true for all the teams. It’s impossible to have an entire evaluation before the 15-20 game played mark. Some teams have slow starts and keep getting better and better all season long. Some teams have unexpected explosive starts then slowly fades away after 10-12 games.

He has 9 points in 8 games and is looking like an early Rookie of the Year candidate. Celebrini may not be able to catch him.

In case you didn't know, bad attitudes cannot play for John Tortorella. They are shown the door. So I am doubting that rumor. Either that or Torts has quickly adjusted his attitude.

Hellebuyck. Leads NHL in wins, 2nd in both save % and GAA. He hasn't cooled since last year.
