Gorton to the Isles?
Hearing rumors are circulating that the Islanders are considering Jeff Gorton to take over the Islanders operation. He knows the NY market, he’s incredibly well respected throughout the league & he’s American. He alao supposedly has felt different about living in a Canadian market ever since he started hearing the American anthem beeing severely booed throughout Canadian cities including Mtl. While i doubt he’d leave i have to admit that anything’s possible.

There are at least 2 published reports in the NYC media indicating Gorton will be offered the position with the Islanders.

This decision has been roundly criticized in NYC by fans and media, and it was openly speculated on WFAN that Drury has "photos of owner James Dolan" (which I took to mean in bed with a woman who is not his wife). This would be the best explanation for this deal, as much of the disaster that was this past season can properly be laid at Drury's feet.

Oilers are worse than last season. The defence is terrible & goaltending even worse. Evander Kane missed the entire season & Zack Hyman is back to being Zack Hyman. Jeff Skinner was signed as a top UFA & he’s been awful & was scratched last night. You still have Mcdavid & Draisaitl but you need more than two great players.
Let me make a prediction & i encourage anyone to bookmark it: if the Oilers get a quick exit from the playoffs Connor Mcdavid will not re-sign in Edmonton. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in his hometown team (Toronto) especially if they chose not to re-sign Mitch Marner which would leave the Leafs with tons of cap space to sign #97. It has never been a big secret that Mcdavid has always wanted to play for the Leafs & he also owns a home north of Toronto. His family whim he’s extremely close to still lives near Toronto & Mcdavid spends the offseason training with other NHLers in the city.
The Maple Leafs haven't allowed more than 2 goals in any of their 3 games against Ottawa, and that's why they lead 3-0. Who can remember any Maple Leafs team in the last 20 years that didn't allow more than 2 goals for 3 straight games. It's better goalies and better defense. I think they can be a real threat but they are still going to need to get by Florida in round 2 and that's not going to be easy. No picnic there.
I used to think "Killer" Kirill Kaprisov, also known as KKK, was the best player on the Wild, but now I think it's Matt Boldy. What a great player he is becoming, and nobody talks about him. I am not sure if the posters here even know who he is. He is developing into a major star right before our eyes.
Without a doubt the player of the night last night was Cam Fowler, who had 5 points playing defense for the St. Louis Blues. Any time a defenseman scores 5 points in a playoff game, it's time to stand and clap your hands:

Another exciting game today between eternal rivals Tampa & Florida in which the Bolts won a must-win game on Florida ice to now trail 2-1 in the series. Cheap-shot artist Matthew Tkachuk may get suspended for a blind side hit on Jake Guentzel late in the game. It was likely retaliation for a similar blindside hit on Slava Barkov in game two by Brandon Hagel which got him suspended for today’s game. If Tkachuk isn’t suspended Tampa will likely retaliate in the next game!
