A 3rd, 4th, 5th wave, maybe?

In the U.S. there is no second wave and the third wave. We are still on the FIRST wave. The present administration totally botched the handling of this. Yet in all irony and a messed up one at it strangely have to thank the CCP for this. They inadvertently helped remove #DiaperDon from office even though I am sure they didn’t intend to. Okay you all can flame me now if you wish.

In Canada would make sense if there is a third wave as your country handled this way better than your neighbor down south.

We handled this way better? What did we do that is different? We do not have the population density to get the same cases/deaths as the US, if Saskatchewan had the same population of NY and NJ you can be guaranteed we would have had the same numbers. As of now our covid debt and unemployment is the highest in the G7 and still getting worse, my grandchildren who are not even born yet will be paying for our governments fuckup over this.

On Face the Nation a regular guest is former FDA administrator Dr. Gottlieb who currently sits on the board of Pfizer. Even though he is likely biased towards everything Pfizer, I have found him to be a great source of information regarding the pandemic in general and not just about vaccines. As of late I prefer him over Fauci because I think the country, at least the US, has had way too much Fauci for one life time. Anyway, my point, he said on Sunday something that I thought was very positive and assuring about another wave. He mentions that in one form or another about 55% of the US population has some form of protective immunity either from vaccines or prior infection and thinks that we have enough of a backstop to prevent a fourth wave. Here is part of the transcript:

MARGARET BRENNAN: When it comes to B.1.1.7, the variant first detected in the UK, Dr. Fauci said this week it's about 30% of US infections and it's, what, 50% more transmissible? It's also potentially more lethal. When you see these pictures of these spring break gatherings in Florida and elsewhere, does that make you rethink your projections here and worry about a fourth wave?

DR. GOTTLIEB: Well, I don't think we're going to have a fourth wave, I think what we're seeing around the country is parts of the country that are plateauing, and we're seeing upticks in certain parts of the country. I think the fact that we have so much prior infection, 120 million Americans have been infected with this virus, the fact that we've now vaccinated, we've gotten one shot in at least 70 million Americans, even if you account for the fact that maybe about 30% of the people being vaccinated previously had COVID, we're talking about some form of protective immunity in about 55% of the population. So there's enough of a backstop here that I don't think you're going to see a fourth surge.

What he said is true, to an extent. It’s a good indication the end is closer. What it doesn’t mean is that preventative measures shouldn’t still be taken.

There is a huge difference between letting businesses open so people can earn a living and pay bills for life necessity vs the shit show you are seeing in Miami Beach. Big difference. This will for sure propagate spread of virus. Will it cause a surge? What’s your definition of a surge? Is it when you have an uptick in new infections? That is sure as fuck to increase thanks to Ronnie D. Will it mean hospitalizations and deaths surge just as much a month later? Prob not now that vaccinations are occurring @ the rate they are. So this dude Gottlieb is right to an extent. But the more the virus replicates the more mutations occur and the more production of variants which evade antibodies from prior infection? Just look @ South Africa and Brazil. REALLY TAKE A LOOK @ Brazil. I know a handful of peeps who have gotten reinfected. One colleague in Brazil even. That’s why you should keep wearing a mask and use common sense which is what Fauci is saying. I don’t think I’ve heard him ask for any lockdowns. It is worthless asking people to wear two masks when some won’t even wear one. But again, he’s telling people stone cold truth. And a lot don’t like that

Rand Paul is a waste of his pops semen btw

Take a look at South Dakota. Poster child for how to screw up pandemic response and it has nothing to do with population density.

Nowhere in my post did I speak about any of the spin you mentioned. And why is that? Because you just wont read what is in the link provided, as usual. But, since you want to drag the nonsense into this, the reason the US is doing so much better is yes, because we took a huge financial risk in funding Warp Speed. Now vaccines are a plenty, so many that we are sending some to our neighbors to the north. Our infections continue to drop and Dr. Gottlieb feels good about our future. I know that goes against everything your hearing from the left news media, but good news is a welcome change. England, unlike the rest of the EU has dropping cases because of their aggressive action towards getting a vaccine as well. Brazil, South Africa, blah blah blah and I highly doubt you know anybody who has actually been reinfected. Miami also had nothing to do with my post. So in a thread about a third wave I decided to post something relevent but you decided to do what you always do and completely not get anything about what I posted. Rand Paul? Also has nothing to do with my post.

How exactly did they screw up a pandemic response? If your talking about the rally there's nothing significant to verify any surge over the summer. The article below was published in September well after the rally and the Associated Press the week before this article identified only 290 cases from 12 states tied to the rally. That's a far cry from a significant surge. The governor said that there were only a hundred cases. There were more CNN reporters at times at the rally than actual riders. The media blew it way out of proportion. South Dakota had a surge like the rest of the US from November thru January but now has minimal new cases.

South Dakota did not lock down and they have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the entire country. And I don’t believe at any time during this pandemic were their ICUs overwhelmed or even at capacity. The ease with which this virus spreads shows you that no matter what you do, people are going to catch it in droves.

Ur point is a spin my fine feathered friend, blahhh, blahhhh, blahhh, n it could be an incorrect one.

Its not a left or right thing. It’s a science thing. You are the one who brought up the left and dismissed what I wrote about South Africa and Brazil. I’m not criticizing rand Paul because he’s “republican” I’m criticizing him because he’s a fuckin idiot and doesn’t know what he is talking about. I didn’t think reinfection was possible and agreed with him last year when he argued with Fauci, didn’t like how he was making it theatrical but agreed with him, but what he’s saying is wrong. You can absolutely be reinfected. You can believe what you want about what I’ve seen the virus can do, no skin off my back, but don’t throw shit on this board and say there wasn’t a spin on it, lol. The role of variants is yet to be determined

Nowhere in my original post did I bring up the left, that was all you. You brought up Rand Paul, that was all you. You brought up reinfection, that was all you. I simply posted something that I watched on Sunday and you took it ran it in a completely unrelated direction. The "shit" I threw on this board was from a well documented left leaning media outlet along with their left leaning host. Get your facts straight and do a little reading, you may actually learn something. You simply wanted to take what I posted and twist it into a conversation about politics. Plain and simple.

If I came off that way I apologize TGW. I’m sorry, it should never be a political thing. It should be about the facts. I guess what I should have done better than I did was say that yes, what your article says is true but there’s a lot more to it. I did watch interview and thought points were quite valid by DrG. But there’s more to it as Fauci elaborated on with his exchange with Rand Paul.

Fair enough TNB, all good. Interestingly enough I couldn't watch the exchange with Fauci and Rand Paul. I thought that Rand Paul was just being extremely rude and disrespectful. I consider Fauci a true patriot and have great respect for someone who has dedicated his life to saving the lives of others. Hopefully vaccinations will outpace the emergence of the different variances to get to that magic number for herd immunity.
Man, if you were right in front of me I’d grab u and give you a hug. Not a bro hug but the real shit, stay healthy all you fuckers.

South Dakota has the highest death rate per Capita in the US from September to March. To be exact South Dakota has 1934 deaths per million (Sept 10th to March 2nd) . New York had 768, California had 979.

I never commented on the rally. My comment was that in the last 6 months, South Dakota has the worst record in the US despite relatively low density. Density is an important factor but when it comes to unnecessary deaths, negligent leadership trumps density :)

That's cool. I got us caught up somehow in a Sturgis Rally conversation. All good. In NY we had some shitty leadership as well leading to the nursing home death scandal so I can relate. South Dakota has more bison in some zip codes than actual people so a bad month for that state is probably equal to a good day in Manhattan,
