Can anyone, Franco, Anglo, or Allo afford to plunge themselves into hard economic times when the whole world is in bad shape. In Canada we have it good compared to elsewhere. A PQ government will add uncertainty into our lives.
You are correct. The entire world is suffering economically, not just the U.S. In Canada, things aren't as bad as elsewhere, and i can't understand why people would want change when things are on the way up. Of course, a large number of Quebec students who will go and vote won't vote for Charest, but that's not surprising since they've been brainwashed into believing that the PQ will give them whatever they're asking for.
However, take the U.S. for example. In 2000, Bill Clinton had left them with a huge surplus, yet the voters turned around & switched to a Republican government, something they & the entire world is still paying for today. Other factors contributed to the ouster of the Democrats, but the bottom line is that the economy was thriving & voters still chose to switch to a GOP government.
I'd like to point out that the Democrats (Albert Gore) got the popular vote in that election, but lost the election due to the electoral college political system present in the U.S. And of course, need i forget the corruption & voter supression that occurred in Florida in that election? But that's another story.
I hope i'm wrong, but i'll be very surprised if Pauline Marois isn't the newly elected Quebec Premier by tomorrow morning.
