It could be fun. It's a great idea but I would add a caveat: it would be good insofar we'd have a private section all by ourselves.

Incidently,my best GT ever was in a strip club (the former Solid Gold in São Paulo). It was fine untill the girls at our GT stole the show...none of the regular customers were watching anymore the dancers on the floor. The manager was furious...

Last year? Oliver and I have been friends for a number of years, in fact he was the first merbite I ever met, and I have never hidden that fact and I've mentioned it myself on a number of occasions here on MERB. The fact that we're friends has nothing at all to do with either MERB or merc.

Good idea to have it a bar... that way those with a predilection for the under aged will be deterred.

Now, how about you put your money where your mouth is and stop making insinuations and veiled accusations about people and say exactly what you want to say and identify these people with such predilctions? This is a perfefct example of why I want nothing to do with merc smurfs who have a habit of making this kind of accusation and never, not once, have any of them ever backed up their bullshit. I know that Tom won't do anything about these kind of posts because without them he'd have no traffic at all - people sure as hell aren't going to the blue board to read reviews, because there aren't any to read.

So how about it, Dee? Put up or shut up.

By the way...everyone is welcome at a MERB GT. It's always been that way and it always will be.

The two main reasons I could see against having a GT in a SC is the lack of freedom of movement to mingle and the fact that most agencies won't show up if it was in a SC. Then you also have to consider the extra cost of the cover charge, tip to the doorman and the higher cost of drinks. The last couple of GTs we held at HDLM had about 75 people coming and going over the evening. Hardly practical to do this at a SC unless you can either reserve the club or a large section of it for your exclusive use.

Besides, why should the agencies who are kind enough to grace us with the company of their lovely ladies have to compete with the dancers in a club for merbites' attention?

But the main problem is not being able to walk around and chat with people, both other members and SPs, which we have no problem with at HDLM. It's been a successful formula so far so why mess with success?

I agree that it would be better to have the GT at HDLM... it's hard enough to circulate even there and talk there.... in a strip club mobility would be limited and the music would make conversation difficult. At the HDLM the music is off to the side.

I will say that a couple of folks are overly sensitive, prepared to give truth a holiday and, like rats in a sack, lash out blindly... they should be encouraged to attack the idea not the one putting forward the idea... the unvarnished idea that they wish to attack is:

I don't think there's much more that I can say... I would have thought that I was, on this occasion, on the side of the angels. I will report on whether the other steps I alluded to met with any results. My optimism is fading a bit. Peace.

More seriously, HDLM is fine. Several succesful GT were held there, there's a parking lot just in front, restaurants nearby, etc. Why not stick to that place?

It might not be that bad of an idea. All of the GT's in Toronto (organized by Terb) have been held in stripclubs & from what i've heard & read, have all been a success. They're organizing another one on May 27th at the Club Paradise stripclub.

Hello Mike,

I went to a GT at Cleo's once on a Friday night. About a dozen members showed up and along with the other patrons there was very little room. If this GT attracts anywhere near the number of board members as the last big GT at the HDLM and some ladies also come, isn't there going to be a huge space problem?

And what happened... zippo, nada, SWA... what conclusion can one draw? Note that even their present threats are hazy at best...
