I've recently found out that at least one agency (well know one - advertise here as well) keeping records of phone numbers. I've spoke to the manager who confirmed it.
He explained it by him wanting to keep regulars and providing better service to repeating clients.
Other owners who I've spoken to said the phone number is used only for booking and is not kept for future usage.
I'm OK with an owner wanting to provide better service, but I am concern by him keeping our phone numbers. Especially if he knows your merb handle and can cross-reference the information.
We have all heard of agencies getting busted and their books being confiscated. A cop (or even worst - a former employee who seeks revenge) can cross reference your posts and your phone number to find out more about you. Imagine a blackmail against you: one knows exactly how many times have you seen an escort and when. How will you explain that to your wife? A guy coming to your house and telling your wife you have seen an escort (he names the dates/times as well) - when all these times you have told her you are staying late at work?
Most of us have work colleges who we do not wish them to know we are hobbing. Some of the members here might be famous people and some of us have families with a wife and kids. For most of us, googling your phone number can supply additional details about the person - including the name and address. I have seen people's life being ruined by sex scandals - I do not wish that to happen to me as well.
Some agencies well know me even on MSN and allow me to book online without supplying my phone number (based on my kind-of-limited merb reputation). This kind of hobby is based on trust. I personally - do not trust an agency who collects its client details.
