………out of the 132 million viewers who noticed Prince, simulating a erection?

It was during the rendition of Purple Rain. He had switched guitars for the song. The combination of the extension protruding from the top of the purple guitar which is fashioned after his logo, the juxtaposition of placement to his body and the shadow projected on the suspended silk, certainly seemed to suggest it was intentional.

Not to be out done by Janet, the man is not only talented but in my mind a legend. As verified by most, some of his credits include Susanna Hoffs, Kim Basinger, Vanity, Appollonia, Sheila E, Annabella Sciorra and Sheena Easton to name a few.

In thinking about this impressive list, maybe it wasn’t his guitar after all.

Don't forget one of his early albums was called Controversy. (And wasn't another of his credits Montrealer Kat Dyson?)

I was pissing myself laughing at the half time show. Prince was too funny with his eriction live on tv. I wonder what how much contraversy this will cause.

That would be right in line with his style.

I mean anyone who has ever seen him perform with his infamous ejaculating guitar would know.

As an aside, I once saw a blues guitarist at a small club in Greewnwich Village (NYC) try to simulate the same effect by borrowing a small plastic bottle of Lubriderm hand lotion from a girl in our group.

The result was pretty hysterically funny - especially to see the look on the face of the guy near the stage who got hit with some "jizz" :D

100% Correct. I guess he needed the extra attention .
His guitar didn't even work after.

Well, all I know is that when I'm done playing, my 'instrument' doesn't want to work anymore either ;)

I think that Prince is one of the most under-rated and under-appreciated performers today. The guy is absolutely amazing and may be one of the best musicians alive today. I don't know if he still records his music the same way, but on his early albums he played every instrument on every track on his albums and only used his band for live performances.

Saw him at a Montreal bar a couple years ago (he was hanging out and having drinks with his massive entourage -- not playing a show)...He bought a free round for entire bar. Nice guy! and we didn't even have to look at his erection...

That was a great half time show last night and yes we all noticed his simulated erection. This is one of the most talented musicians this world has ever seen. And he picks up the hottest chicks to boot.

I just hope it's not a guy who starts this pool.

If you don't want tits, nipples, simulated erections or anything else outrageous has-beens like Janet Jackson and Prince will do so people remember they still exist, just fork out more money and get some decent bands. :D

JustBob, whether you love Prince or hate him, the last thing you can call him is a has been. In fact he had one of the highest grossing concert tours in 2004, second only to Madonna in gross revenue and first in net revenue. Not bad for someone whose music gets almost zero radio play.
Hardly a has been!

By the way...what would you consider a 'decent band'?

Prince top money making
Prince is now king. The high-energy rocker was the top-earning music act of 2004.

The oddball hit-maker, who once changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol and was considered washed up, took $56.5 million to the bank from concerts and CD sales, according to Rolling Stone's list of Top 50 moneymakers of 2004.

"With $90.3 million in ticket sales, Prince returned to center stage after a decade in the commercial wilderness," says the mag, which based its findings on ticket and record sales, publishing and other related revenue.

Prince, whose smashes include "Purple Rain" and "1999," beat out perennial cash cow Madonna, who came in at No. 2, with $54.9 million, thanks to her "Re-Invention Tour," four children's books and the "American Life" CD.

Madonna actually grossed more on tour, but Prince took home a bigger piece of the pie because of lower production costs — it took 24 trucks to haul the Material Girl's tour around, while Prince's relatively bare-bones show needed only 12.

Also on the comeback trail was Metallica. The heavy-metal dinosaurs were No. 3, with $43.1 million, thanks to their "Madly in Anger With the World Tour," and sales of 1.4 million copies of their old records.

Kat and another Montrealer - a bass player ... forget her name - both played with him for about a decade. Kat's got a myspace page and is holed up in L.A. at the moment.

He is an amazing musician and I always liked him (musically, that is), and I thought his halftime show at the Super Bowl was amazing.

I know a guy who played with Prince many years ago (professional musician) and he absolutely raved about Prince as a musician.

If you check into his recording history you will discover a dispute he had with his record company, Warner Bro's I believe, a number of years ago which led to him changing his name to disassociate himself from them. He even performed on Good Morning America with the word 'slave' written on his forehead in protest. When he was finally released from his contract, or it expired, he decided not to sign with another company, took back his name and released his discs himself primarily through the net via his website. During this time, he virtually disappeared from the airwaves, except for his older music such as Purple Rain which got occasional airplay. He kept touring though, and became a Jehovah's Witness. But last year, maybe the year before, he signed with a new label and seems to have decided to get back in the mainstream but he still doesn't get much airplay for whatever reason. I have no idea why, and I think it's a shame, as he is still turning out some very good music, as good as or better than anyone recording today. That's just my opinion of course.

EDIT: I found this after my post. This may be more info than you may be interested in but it is very complete and personally I found it very interesting. One of his guitars is in the Smithsonian Castle!

>By ''credits'', do you mean people he's actually screwed ?<

Luver2:
As the stories go…………

My tribute. A departure…….

I remember seeing an interview with George Clinton. This was the first time I had heard any mention of Prince. He marveled at not only his innate ability as a musician but also his mindset and conviction. I never new what to think of George or how to take him, but the interview caused me to purchase one of Prince’s albums. It was actually his second, simply called “Prince”, which featured a song which I believe went on to become his first real hit entitled, “ I Wanna Be Your Lover”.

I am certainly not a Prince authority. I cannot help but to suggest, I like many are totally impressed by his skills, the unique sound, the diversity and quality of arrangement. I am sure his influences are as complex as his offerings and reminiscent in part to such talents as; Sly Stone, James Brown, Miles Davis and Jimmy Paige. It probably did not hurt that his father was an accomplished jazz musician. I was even more awestruck when I read and as Techman offered, he played all of the instruments. All of this at the ripe ole age of 21.

Unknown to many and as his popularity started to grow, he opened for the “Stones” in The Los Angeles Coliseum in the early 80’s. He was rudely booed off the stage in a rainfall of garbage and debris, as chants of “faggot” accompanied the mock cheers as he exited.

I just can’t believe all the things people say.
Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay?
Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me?

Heck,…….any accomplished DVD reviewer or intelligent consumer should be able to appreciate the magnitude of not only his accomplishments, but his mastery of craft and showmanship. At the very least, his musical influence and production skills. The man is unequivocally, a genius!,…….in my humble opinion.

So, with all this amazing talent has had to endure, I hope to God he did do the dirty-boogie with all the for-mentioned hotties from back in the day. He deserves much better, but not bad for someone who’s all of 5-2, wears heels and eyeliner.

I said, life is just a game, we're all just the same……….
Do you wanna play?

An interesting thing about all the women he's been involved with...none of them have ever really spoken about him in any detail.

Doc, it's the superbowl and they want a superstar at halftime. Or maybe you would prefer they pick one of today's big stars such as Justin Timberlake, oops they already tried that! No one complained when the Stones did the halftime show, other than me...Give some examples of some recent stars who deserve to do it and then I'll comment on them. The general consensus is that the Prince show was the best halftime performance in years if not ever.

fml2, Prince seems to perform here quite often. He was here two years ago and my boss saw him at PdA 2 years before that. He loves the Jazz fest and I wouldn't be surprised to see him back this year. Currently he has a show going on in Vegas so that may prevent him from touring but we can always hope.

We agree on Timberlake (where's the talent? where are the looks?) and the Stones (i've been wishing that they hang up their guitars for the past 15 years)......but i preferred Paul McCartney's half-time show to Prince's. Heck, i even preferred Michael Jackson's! LOL

Who i would have picked instead? Stars of today and not yesterday's....Beyonce, U2, Springsteen, Faith Hill, Avril Lavigne....heck, don't laugh...Jessica Simpson! :D

It's just that Prince is yesterday's news and hasn't really done anything in 15 years or so. The kids today don't have a clue about how big he was back in his heyday when 'Purple Rain' came out......one thing about him, though.....he doesn't seem to have aged much. Heck, he looks even better than he did way back when...
