Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Keeps Time With A Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual
Dr. Strange opened this week in Europe, while in the United States fans have to wait until November 4, 2016 to see the comic-inspired story of Dr. Stephen Strange, an ultra-successful neurosurgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer after a car accident robs him of the use of his hands.
Before his life-altering trauma, the title character, played by an absolutely brilliant Benedict Cumberbatch, seems to have had a penchant for the finer things in life – including an ill-fated Lamborghini and a wider dresser full of fine watches. The watch he selects on the fateful evening is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual. As we find out during the course of the film, this watch has special meaning for him and it is engraved with a dedication on the back: “Time will tell you how much I love you, Christine.”
Time, of course, is one of the overriding themes of Dr. Strange, so it makes sense that a watch would play quite a big role. Alongside the eye-popping visuals and special effects, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual makes for one of the most attractive things in this movie (to a watch nerd anyway).

As Mark Hughes sums up in his perfectly on-point film review, “Doctor Strange has pitch-perfect pacing, one of the best casts assembled for a Marvel picture to date, the most astonishing visual effects of the Marvel universe, and a thoughtful story embracing moral ambiguities. It captures the heart and soul of the original comics, updating them and bring them fully to life in a way fans could only dream of until now.”
It only stands to reason that such an incredible movie deserves such an incredible watch to play a supporting role: this automatic 39 x 9.2 mm timepiece housed in stainless steel contains a perpetual calendar, whose date will never need correcting until the year 2100 should it stay wound until then.
