I have a Tudor that looks like a Rolex, when people ask me if it is a Rolex I tell them it is a fake Rolex. Then they go look it up on the internet.

In 2000, Italo Fontana realized a longtime dream of launching his own luxury watch company. U-Boat watches embody the force and style of the professional instruments and luxury sports cars that represent the passions of the man behind the brand. 'It took me seven years to develop and refine the U-Boat watches. Inspired by eighteenth-century craftsmanship and intricate made-by-hand detailing, we can now produce a timepiece of rare artisanal quality that reaches toward a new dimension in watchmaking.'

Character and strength are a hallmark of the U-Boat brand. All of the line's timepieces are designed with the crown on the left side of the case - a unique and unexpected element making this timepiece extremely comfortable to wear despite its extreme size.

All I have is a simple Moonwatch and a superb vintage Longines dress watch... IF, however, I was not indulging in this hobby, I would have had an Explorer II and a Patek Philippe Calatrava by now.

A simple understated design, the Gents Vintage Stainless Steel Watch GS02424-21 is a great example of the Rotary watch range, featuring a stainless steel case body and a buckled black leather strap.

Rotary Watches Ltd was established in the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1895, with an importation deal leading to Britain becoming the company's biggest market. In 1940 Rotary won the contract to supply time pieces to the British Army, which thanks to the military draft of the Second World War put their watches into nearly every household in the country. Today, Rotary remains one of the 'superbrands' in the United Kingdom.

I work part-time as a watchmaker, doing minor repairs basically, and I always face palm myself when a young girl comes at me asking if a Micheal Kors watch is any good! In my opinion, its better to save up a little for a while and buy a somewhat higher end watch like Tissot, Raymond Weil, Frederique Constant, instead of those cheap japanese made mvmt that are way over priced sometimes.

Besides chateau d'ivoire, what are some of the nice stores where one would find a watch around 10k. Currently looking for Rolex (easy to find everywhere), ulysse , chopard which are not as common. I also know of some online shops (joma) but they're usually not in Canada so I'm a little scared of ordering online...not sure if it's fake or how the customs process works
Thanks for your help

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual.

Greetings all

https://www.google.ca/search?q=jaeg...alendar+steven+strange+&imgrc=7JYkEgMFiOxCbM:
Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Keeps Time With A Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual

Dr. Strange opened this week in Europe, while in the United States fans have to wait until November 4, 2016 to see the comic-inspired story of Dr. Stephen Strange, an ultra-successful neurosurgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer after a car accident robs him of the use of his hands.

Before his life-altering trauma, the title character, played by an absolutely brilliant Benedict Cumberbatch, seems to have had a penchant for the finer things in life – including an ill-fated Lamborghini and a wider dresser full of fine watches. The watch he selects on the fateful evening is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual. As we find out during the course of the film, this watch has special meaning for him and it is engraved with a dedication on the back: “Time will tell you how much I love you, Christine.”

Time, of course, is one of the overriding themes of Dr. Strange, so it makes sense that a watch would play quite a big role. Alongside the eye-popping visuals and special effects, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual makes for one of the most attractive things in this movie (to a watch nerd anyway).

As Mark Hughes sums up in his perfectly on-point film review, “Doctor Strange has pitch-perfect pacing, one of the best casts assembled for a Marvel picture to date, the most astonishing visual effects of the Marvel universe, and a thoughtful story embracing moral ambiguities. It captures the heart and soul of the original comics, updating them and bring them fully to life in a way fans could only dream of until now.”

It only stands to reason that such an incredible movie deserves such an incredible watch to play a supporting role: this automatic 39 x 9.2 mm timepiece housed in stainless steel contains a perpetual calendar, whose date will never need correcting until the year 2100 should it stay wound until then.

Introducing The Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Moon By Jaeger-LeCoultre

Greetings all

A amazing watch

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/i...h-moonphase-accurate-to-almost-four-millennia

It suffices to say that we hit the ground running at SIHH. The updates are pouring in, and this morning's briefing includes an exciting addition to Jaeger-LeCoultre's Duomètre Family. A couple of years ago, the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon made our top-ten most visited posts of the year. That In-Depth look included an explanation by Jerome Lambert, then CEO. This year's Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Moon presents this very complicated mechanism in a prominent display. Of course, as we've said in the past, design cues that seem effortless require the most effort – and this model is no exception.

The Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Moon contains a lot within a 42 mm x 14 mm platinum case, which makes the watch more wearable than you would think, given the amount of mechanicals inside (especially when considering the curved lugs and a cambered sapphire crystal). But on to the neat design cues:

Let's get the main attraction out of the way first. The watch boasts a three-quarter dial with a lateral opening at 9 o'clock that reveals the Sphérotourbillon. What is a Sphérotourbillon? It's a tourbillon (an escapement and balance wheel mounted in a rotating cage) that rotates on two axes in order to counteract the effects of gravity in relation to the position that the watch finds itself in. In addition to this, the titanium cage that houses the tourbillon also rotates at a 20-degree tilt (a cool astrological nod the Earth's tilt in the north star's direction). The tourbillon rotates internally in 30 seconds and revolves externally in 15 seconds.

You'll notice that unlike its predecessor, the cutaway portion has a stairway or wing-like preface of untreated German silver that connects to the rest of the dial. The dial also has the eggshell/grained and silver-toned finish, which is a Jaeger-LeCoultre staple identifier.

The main time sub dial is at 3 o'clock, and is tastefully constructed with rose gold hour markers and numerals with feuilles hands. The dial also circumscribes the moon phase, made of lapis lazuli, a deep-blue stone that was widely used as an oil-base in frescoes during the Renaissance. There are running seconds at 6 o'clock and a 24-hour counter at 12 o'clock, each with a power reserve.

The pusher at 2 o'clock is an ingenious application of the flyback mechanism. Pushing it resets the running seconds to zero without the balance wheel skipping a beat. Thus, pulling out the crown is no longer necessary to set seconds precisely.

Complications can drain power from the timekeeping mechanisms, which in turn drain accuracy. Having two mainsprings (one for timekeeping and one for complications) solves this power struggle. To keep an eye on the power reserve of its two mainsprings, the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Moon has two power reserve indicators. The 476-part manual movement is in-house (obviously) with a reserve of 45 hours.

Last but certainly not least – the moon phase. Most Jaeger-LeCoultre perpetual calendars have a moon phase discrepancy of one day every 122 years. But this Duomètre is different because when it is set, the moon phase is accurate to 3,887 years. There really is little to be said after that statement.

Conclusively, Jaeger-LeCoultre's Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Moon is a fresh and well-executed addition to the Duomètre group. It will be made in a limited series of 75 pieces (numbered on an engraved plaque at 7 o'clock on the dial). Pricing has yet to be announced, but stay tuned as updates pour in from the scene at SIHH 2015.

I had the opportunity to try it today

Three of the latest Tourbillons,....
A true Tourbillon for under $1000 (first came on the market for $250).
http://www.ablogtowatch.com/aatos-tiago-review-is-this-the-cheapest-tourbillon-watch-in-the-world/4/

The one I would sort of like:https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/The-TAG-Heuer-Carrera-Heuer-02T Starting at $15000
And the one I really want: http://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-double-tourbillon/ starting at 185,000 Euros

I'll settle for my Citizen solar powered WWV radio enabled watch: http://www.citizenwatch.com/en-ca/watches/watch-detail/?model=AT4007-54E
The Citezen is accurate to 0.25 seconds in 20 million years.. Not like my mechanical Tag that looses 20 seconds a day.
