AppleCare+ and Apple going downhill.

Folks yes this is a rant , but after spending so much money and getting screwed I feel that I have earned it.

I have an iPhone that I bough less than 2 years ago. I paid extra for Applecare protection guy said ok 2X screen replacement with a fee. I was stupid enough to get conned by Apple's extended warranty.
I got a scratch last year on my screen, the scammy guy says oh its cosmetic only your screen isn't cracked. we can't replace it under extended warranty. fuck ok fine. Then I walk in with a broken usb-c cable.
Lazy bastard accuses me of everything from fake wire to no gold plating on the wire not to replace it under extended warranty . FInally I wrote to Apple HQ, that WTF to save 10$ you would screw over a customer
from the Motorola Power PC era. I never got a reply.

This is not the Apple of Steve Jobs anymore. I should have learned my lesson when they wanted to charge me 1500$ for a coputer with 1 USB-C port !!!!!! I told myself enough , I am buying a Costco HP /DEll/ LG powerbook.
After which I loaded Linux Ubuntu on it and never looked back. Becasue friends and family were on iphone, I used bought one, mistake. As Signal , WhatsApp , Jami and others are taking over, I should have done the smart thing and bought a Galaxy S22/ s23 from Bureau enGros , Costco, Samsung outlet store.

After all teh years and monies I spent on Apple, I feel like I got screwed royally. From now on it will be Samsung phones , samsung/lg laptop , or Galaxy TABS . I have seen enough Apple abuse to never go back.

I share your opinion that Apple is highly overestimated and fails to prioritize customer satisfaction, possibly due to their large customer base. Their customer service is terrible. In the past, they were renowned for providing top-notch customer service, but now, it seems customers are merely treated as impersonal statistics. Opting for Apple Care is not a smart move, which is why it is wiser to purchase parts from China. The component parts are identical, the only distinction being the lack of an Apple copyright imprint. I have come across plenty of positive reviews regarding the Google phone. I am contemplating attempting something new.

From now on only costco Laptops which I will erase windows and install Linux Ubuntu , mint , Debian etc.

For phones one touch UI on Samsung Galaxy phones have come a long way .
The user experience now is equal or better to Apple . Samsung/LG phones or tablets now only .

I replaced my Apple AirPort Extreme router with a DD-WRT one.

Goodbye all Apple products .

This is why I never used any Apple product. Overly priced for nothing, even when Steve Jobs was there still it was overly priced. And to add there was zero customization and you got to use Apple products to do anything like Itunes and the lightning cable. Best OS is by far is Linux. Even the current Android is nothing like before, all the phone companies want to copy Apple with the non-removable battery, no more microsd card, etc.. Apple is a big money maker where they been screwing customers over for years to make more money. Why anyone continues to use Apple is beyond me. This company should go bankrupt.

I got an iPhone 11 and iPad Mini 6 and loving it but that is as far I am gonna go with Apple products. Once you get sucked into that ecosystem you are forever a tech slave to Apple. Wanted to get an M1 laptop but the hard drive and RAM are soldered onto the motherboard and cannot be replaced I am like no way. Also many other companies are copying all this long lists of Apple nonsense it is annoying to no end. For a laptop I went to eBay and got a great condition Lenovo T480. I need to able to swap out hard drive and change the RAM.

M2 is just retarded. Small increment increase in performance and the 256 SSD sucks on the M2 is slower than on the M1. Talk about head scratching WTF and Apple's way of a dick move to make you upgrade so it squeeze more $$$$ out of you.

M1 is just too good and would last for years. Unless you are coming from some Intel based Mac no need to go M2 if you already got M1.

Apple is run by greedy spreadsheet bean counters and not by innovators. This company died when Steve Jobs went to the great beyond.

Then you go look at a Lenovo Tiny. Holy shit such an awesome design and architecture. So easy to swap out and change things. On top of that you don't even need any tools to open it up.

They are making MacBooks impossible to upgrade ssd ram like they also make cots ssd incompatible. Seriously a good lg or Samsung computer these days with Ubuntu Linux is as good.

I agree I’ve had situations where they have tried to screw me ,but I’m tired of fighting Apple all the time I just said forget it the stress isn’t worth it, Samsung next time .

Example: My old iPhone died 12 months and one week after “purchase”they tried denying me warranty repair. ( one year warranty) I was lucky that I still had the purolator box that showed that the date I received the item was different from when customer retention billed my credit card (as I was on a waiting list).

The moment the phone company bills your visa/Mastercard somehow Apple gets that information to calculate warranty time.

Apple is like any “luxury” brand, you pay for the name more than for anything else. I know you can find better phones for less with a more resisting front screen.

Just an update, as the BS iphone15 rolls out, I would remind everyone, that Samsung warranty either direct or through retailers like Costco have been much better to me, and I find that by having USB-c there for many years, and easy drag drop of music files ringtones, and personal files, I find it much better versus iphone.

Lets be honest the only draw for iphone was the imessage/facetime. But with Signal, and Whatsapp, even BBM messenger app for all us old foggies, I personally find I don't need an iphone anymore.
