HI all happy new year.

GIven how the airport is mismanaged, are we ok with the TRudeau Airport executives receiving millions dollar bonus and salaries greater then the Prime Minister?
Why are you so concerned with Airport executives receiving million dollar bonuses? They are not putting their hands into everyones pockets like the government does. Be concerned with excessive government spending and the way they keep on raising taxes on everyone.

Because the airport is public property, and funded by tax dollars ..... I would think this would be evident , given the current situation.

Notice I didn't say I give a crap about the President of (insert:walmart, Canadian Tire, Harvey's or Mc Donald's) CEO earning big. If they attracted customer using private money , they have every right to earn.

BTW they have been earning million or near million dollar bonuses for years.

My apologies for my ignorance on this subject. It did not occur to me the airport was publicly funded.

Never mind that, what matters is why are they getting heavy salary and bonuses given the chaos.

Yes because its not your tax dollars being wasted. You as an American have a choice to come here an expend fees, I as a tax payer do not.
Not wasted at all. I have never had a single long delay or cancellation coming in and out of YUL in my life.

YYZ and YVR? I was stuck at YVR security for 4 hours a couple weeks ago. Flight delayed for 7 hours at YYZ mid December.

Love YUL

Around the corner
Why are you being so rude and aggressive to the guy? And people have the nerve to say that Americans are rude. You keep jumping down his throat. If you’re so offended about something you discovered in 2023 (5 years later) then go protest at the airport. Geeeeeeeez.

FYI. ADM is a not for profit entity that receives $0 funding from the government. They lease land from the Federal Government. Get your facts right!
I don’t think he was rude at all. Why does he have to protest at the airport.
We are free to raise a thread on any topic as long as the discussions don’t get out of hand and if someone doesn’t like that topic it is one click away and he can remove himself from it.
Canada has one of the highest airport taxes in the world so he is not out of line wondering why.
Personally I am more concerned with the airlines themselves not the airport.
I find especially in North America and Canada being probably the worst, passengers are held hostage by these scumbag companies including national airlines like Air Canada who have zero recourse when it comes to cancelled flights, delays etc… unless you have the money to fight their lawyers in court.
We are left totally at their mercy by our government.
What ever happened to if a passenger is at the airport on time and if he cannot make that flight within a reasonable time of let’s say 6hrs then he is entitled to a full refund regardless of the reason. He did not get the service he paid for period he should be refunded the money in cash not airline credit with a company who has already failed him, he paid for it in cash. It should be up to the airlines to prove in court each case why they are not giving a full refund not the passenger. The default should be for a full refund on a missed flight if the passenger was there on time and the flight was cancelled or delayed for more than 6hrs. It should be up to the passenger to take that refund or agree to a flight the next day or whenever the next flight is available and meals hotels should certainly be paid by the airline. Air Canada is giving out $20 meal vouchers for delays see what $20 gets you in food at the airport lol.
Would you pay for a meal in a restaurant that you didn’t get regardless of a snowstorm delaying the chef or whatever in most cases BS reason they come up with.

Walmart and McDonald's are both publicly funded in the US, they would both have no employs if they didn't subsist on public funds.

If Trudeau airport was private it would not be named in honor of the government official who tried to close it (the whole Mirabel debacle)

While the report is a little old, they still get obscene compensation, beyond what the PM makes.
All government officials get obscene compensation including Trudeau. I guess that is the result when a dollar is not earned, it is all taken away from working people and businesses.

Again, sir you are a foreigner, an outsider who choses to pay fees at our airport. I am a taxpayer, and as a taxpayer, I ask why is our money used to give million dollar bonuses to Trudeau airport executives?
I've often gotten blasted for pushing back on Canadian's on this board when I would say the same thing about them always ragging on American politics, taxes, etc. Being that this is an escort board with people from all over the world I think your a little out of line simply calling us outsiders as if we cannot give an opinion. We have to hear all of these great comments from Canadian's all the time. So here's my opinion, you vote for these assholes so often times you have no one to blame but yourselves.

This thread is a great exemple of ignorance.

Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) is a not-for-profit corporation serving the Montréal community. It is financially autonomous and receives no annual or statutory government subsidy.

ADM finances its capital investment programs through cash flows from operations and debt. To this end, ADM in 2002 implemented a platform for accessing capital markets which allows it to use a variety of debt securities and loans, including revolving lines of bank credit and revenue bonds. On average, ADM invests $150 million to $200 million per year to keep its facilities in good order, improve customer service and increase the capacity of its airports based on demand.

The governance model of Canadian airports is based on the user-pay principle. Local airport authorities such as ADM charge aeronautical fees to airlines using their airport facilities, as well as airport improvement fees (AIF) from passengers on commercial flights. AIFs, which are included in the price of airline tickets, are currently $35 per departing passenger.

The airport belongs to Transport Canada but is leased for 60 years to ADM.

Let me try to put this another way . I as a Canadian taxpayer do not have a choice in whether the Trudeau Airport Executive committee get million dollar bonuses coming out my TAX DOLLARS, money wasted.

You may like out airport, as none of your tax money is being spent on it.

This post is a great example of ignorance. DID THE ADM PAY TO BUILD THE AIRPORT OR DID THE TAX PAYER ?

Let me explain in a way that might be understood.

Walmart pays for their own building...........therefore they have the right to benefit as much as they want.
Costco pays for their own building .......... therefore they have the right to benefit as much as they wants.

The tax payer paid for that building therefore we expect million dollar bonuses not to be part of the nonsense. That's like saying hydro Quebec does a good job at making money being a middle man manger of electricity, therefore they deserve million dollar bonuses.

Since it doesn’t have share capital, ADM does not pay dividends: all excesses of revenues over expenses are reinvested in the Corporation. However, ADM pays rent to Transport Canada calculated as a percentage of its gross revenues. In addition, it pays municipal taxes based on the property value of its airports. These transfers total about 20% of its gross revenues.

It has nothing to do with a private investment like a Costco nor a Walmart.
