I am not sure what level the Novotel hotel is listed ( I think 3 stars) but this one looked nice. they seemed to spent lots of money to re-decorate the inside (outside of the building looks OK but nothing fancy). I've been told that rooms here have a big plasma screen T.V. on the wall and stuff. also it is more closer to Crescent street and those area.
Hyatt is really nice, somewhat away from crescent street but then it is right in front of Place des Arts and very close to St.Laurant street and St.Denis., China town and walking distance to Old Montreal.

I wouldn't put the Vogue and the W in the same category. The W is much more luxurious and upscale than the Vogue.

As far as quality-wise, the W could be grouped with all those other boutique hotels located in or close to Old Mtl. If i'd have the bucks to go there, i'd pick the St-James. That's where the Stones usually stay when they're in town. Other great and more affordable options are Hotel Godin, Hotel Nelligan, Place d'Armes, St-Sulpice, Hotel Gault, Hotel St-Hubert, etc. If you prefer staying downtown, a suite at the Sofitel is a good option (but only the suite).

I still like the Vogue, but it's went down a notch in quality over the last couple of years. I don't consider it to be in the same league as the hotels i've mentionned above, including the W.

My experience has definitely been the Vogue. Great hotel, great service, great location. I love this place. I have brought girls over to that hotel, non SPs and they loved it. You can read my review of this hotel here:

Hotel Vogue Review

As an aside, I am trying to compile a list of Montreal hotels with reviews to answer this exact questions.

So, if you have some recommendations, you can enter them directly on the Triprater.com site or PM here and I can add them for you.

I forgot to add in my post that the Vogue is one of the worse hotels in Mtl to receive guests. You need a room key to access the floors once inside the elevator. Some guests elect to go down and meet the provider at the lobby, once she arrives. Lobby is very small, by the way, and everyone around can see what you're doing. Sure, there are other ways to get the girl to go up to your room, but it will usually attract uneeded attention from the hotel staff.

There are 5 hotels operated by Marriott in Montreal. Marriott Chateau Champlain, Marriott Courtyard, Marriott Residence Inn Downtown (on Peel), Marriott Springhill Suites (in Old Mtl) and Marriott Residence Inn Westmount (on Lincoln ave.). The most popular one is the Marriott Chateau Champlain, located close to the train station and close to the Bell Center. Personally, i like the one in Old Mtl during the summer months, and the rooms are all suites. It's not very big, which i also enjoy.

Dawgone,

I stayed at the Marriott Chateau Champlain last summer and it was extremely nice, and the location is terrific. Right above the Bonaventure Metro, , close to Ste. Catherine's, and a few blocks from Crescent. I had stripclub takeout there and I had no issues.

Hotel de la Montagne.....

I just stayed there this past weekend and it was great. Big rooms, private balcony, and a great location to St Catherine st and the strip clubs are only a block away with Wanda's being right next door. Molson Centre is only a couple of blocks down(not that that really matters right now unless there is a concert or something)
You can also go through the bar area in the lobby and end up in Thursdays on Cresent st, the best bar area in Montreal.
I stayed at the Vogue before and it is a beautiful hotel but you need a security key to get up the elevator. It's right across the street from the Hotel de la Montagne.

They are also very SP friendly as a few hang out at the bar during the evening.

Guys,

In evaluating these properties, location, location, location! There is no 4 star which is better located than the Vogue. Period!

As to the elevator key policy, I recently received an SP at the Vogue. I met her on the second floor landing at the designated time. Big deal! I was staying on the second floor anyway. I must report however that as I led her back to my room I observed a man passed out in the second floor hallway leading to the rooms (he must have been a guest because you need a key to get in hallway). He was breathing, appeared to be in his late 50s and either had too much to drink or decided to take a nap on the floor. The SP was very upset, so I called security and he was gone by the time my session was over.

The SP forgot her cellphone in my room. I would later receive a call from the agency asking me to take the cellphone down to the Vogue front desk for the driver to pick up. I was not happy about having to do this, but I did.

I am not sure but the elevator policy may have more to do with vagrants and drunks than with SPs.

I agree, the Vogue is greatly located. What i also dislike about it, though, is it's claustrophic effect. The rooms are fairly dark, you can't open the windows, no balconies, etc.

On the other hand, Hotel de la Montagne also cannot be beat as far as location goes. In my opinion, the rooms are of high quality (but a notch below the Vogue), and best of all during summer months, they all have an adjoining balcony that overloops either Crescent street or De la Montagne. The bathrooms are quite big, and the staff very courteous. From Thursday to Saturday, there is always quite a bit of action going on in the lobby. You won't have a boring moment if you stay there, i guarantee it. The restaurants that the hotel has are also very well regarded. Best of all, it has an underground parking garage, which the Vogue doesn't.

It's also very hobby-friendly. As a matter of fact, a well-known elder hobbyist calls it "The F$*% Hotel".

The Vogue may not be the nicest, but I find their beds to be very comfortable...plus, I grew up with the Loews and get incredible discounts!

Yeah, the beds are unbeatable as far as comfort goes. Great beds to have sex in. The Sofitel's beds are nearly a match.

p.s. Ronnie....i also hate the Novotel. It's a hassle to get a girl to go up after 6pm, and the rooms are very plain, in my opinion. Location is great, though. Almost unbeatable.

Just be glad it was only a cell phone! Last year, a well-known Montreal SP forgot her expensive Victoria's Secret bra and panties in my room at the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy. I put them in a hotel envelope with her working name on it and left it at the front desk, but it was still pretty obvious what was inside. The clerk asked me why there was only a first name on the envelope. I told her not to worry about it.

Well, it depends on what one is looking for in order to be able to answer that question fairly.

For me, my personal favorite would be the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy.

1.) Location is great. Within walking distance to a major supermarket.

2.) Membership has its privileges. I belong to the Delta Privilege club, and thus am able to make FREE local phone calls, can request a room upgrade that offers FREE high speed internet connection.

3.) If you have a car, parking is self parking, and is reasonble relative to other hotels at $19 or $20/day.

4.) you NEVER have to worry about an sp needing an elevator key access after a certain time.

5.) The rooms have balconies. During the summers, this could be great. Further, the rooms are larger than say the rooms at the Hyatt and some other comparable 3 to 3.5 star hotels.

As for the Novotel, the only two things that it has going are that they have probably the best looking front desk hostesses/receptionists in Montreal and the self parking rate is cheap relative to other hotels. The biggest turn off is the elevator key access. After staying there twice, I realized what a pain in the ass it is having to go down and wait for the sp in front view of others when I could have prepared myself to better set the tone for the date.

The Hyatt is alright. The rooms there are a little bit smaller than the ones at the Delta Montrea, IMO. From the outside, the hotel looks really nice. Inside is OK, but nothing really special.

Holiday Inn Select on Viger is OK. It is right in Chinatown and is very convenient and discreet in regards to seeing sps. The rooms are a little bit older in appearance than the Delta IMO.

Holiday Inn Express on Rene Levesque (formerly Hotel Les Suites Fauborg) is pretty good in that there is a kichenette with a BIG refrigerator. Local calls are free. Very small hotel though. Another plus is the free high speed internet access in your rooms. For a 2/5 star hotel, I like it better than some of the three star hotels in US, particularly in Vegas.

Don't stay at the Holiday Inn on Sherbrooke, right next to the Marriot and Delta Montreal. The rooms have a very old appearance. Further, they usually host some kind of sporting event, so there are always so much traffic, conisting of large groups of people--usually high school kids, going in and out of the hotel lobby. I fyou don't mind loud noises (not the kind you're thinking about), then perhaps you could put up with it.

Justajohn and CK_NJ:

Thanks for the intell on the Marriott downtown. Last time I stayed at the Ritz Carlton and I was a bit disappointed as it appeared to be showing it's age and the room was pretty worn down for a suite. I hope the Marriott is better. I may also try the W, the one in San Francisco is great - a block from the Golden Flower and the rooms are very modern.

We may have a winner! What do you think? I like nice, but want to be close to the action too. Thanks for the info!!!
