I have a few responses to your statements, Patron.
States raise the age of consent for prostitution and change the classification of the offense from misdemeanor to felony because they want to discourage prostitution related offenses involving teenagers under 18. Most handlers who are not hard core pimps try to comply because of the added penalties that can be added if they are caught. Most parents of teenagers under 18 would not want their child or would they consent to their child to be a prostitute. Remember, parents are still the legal guardians of their children under 18.
The law does not differentiate between underage prostitutes who get their fair share of your money vs. the underage prostitute who gets nothing because theirs a pimp beating her if she doesn't produce for him and she gets food and drugs only compensation. The law says the exchange for sex with money is illegal and paying an girl under 18 is even more illegal, because society doesn't want their minor daughters turning tricks under any circumstances.
Jeffrey Epstein is a very rich sleazeball. Ken Starr is a lawyer. He represents people. I am sure Epstein paid Starr for his legal services in full and paid a good amount. Alan Dershowitz also represented Epstein. Defense lawyers very seldom refuse to defend clients unless they are so busy or the client is so difficult to defend or work for. They believe everyone deserves the best defense or plea possible.
